Update time. That brown Stanza was a sweet machine. However. When you have the opportunity to get back a car that you used to own, and regretted selling, you have to make difficult choices. So in a direct swap, the brown Stanza went out, and my old Nissan Maxima came back. I'm so pleased to have it back, although I wish there had been another way I could have made it happen. Anyway... there is an update on the blue one. The carb must have hated sitting still for 32 years. It needs a proper refurb, as it wouldn't start or run very well at all. As much as I wanted to keep it 100% original, I bit the bullet today and swapped over the carb from the '83 saloon, as I knew that it was A) a straight bolt on, and B) the saloon ran and ticked over sweetly before it was parked up for the last time over a year ago. The difference is amazing. Starts well. Runs well. Ticks over so quietly. I had to take it out for a fuel run, then took a few pics upon my return... I'll make sure the cold starts are good tomorrow, then I'm planning on showing it at a couple of events this weekend. Can't wait.

paint missmatch you say ? ha ha, a very easy but ill informed assumption to make, its actually accented between the car and the side stripes. very rare, JDM specification.

Hoping to get this one MOT'd in the next week or so, then taxed and use it a bit.

Great cars, both. Seems odd to see a Geordie thread without pics on your immaculate drive!

Little update. Not much to update recently. Currently sorn'd and parked up in my lockup, hoping that 2021 is better than 2020 for shows. Has to be, doesn't it? Anyway, here is a pic today taken with it's quite unexpected 3 door and 4 door stablemates. It must be like finding a sibling or two years later that you didn't know you had... I wonder when the last time an example of each body style of Stanza were together at the same time?

When they were new, perhaps? Even when Stanzas were still moderately common cars you wouldn't see all three variants in the same day, let alone the same place.

I notice that the 5-door has the vents by the rear lights but the 3-door hasn't. Any idea why?

3 door cars tend to hide the vent on the C pillar, or below the latch on the b pillar. Sometimes they put it about where the bump strip is on the rear quarter too. Best theory I've heard on it is that when you have a three door there's more space and less seals to disturb so the air can be squashed out of the way easier than a five door, where it will look for the easiest route and push against and sometimes open the rear doors. If your three door has pop out windows on the back, sometimes they flex just enough to let the extra pressure out past the seal when you shut the door so no vent is needed.

Nice history. was just wondering when I saw the last time a Stanza but more even a Prarie. They where quite popular to a certain level in their days in The Netherlands but I must have seen the last one more than 10 years ago. Thom

The bronze one, from right at the start of this thread, has returned after about 18 months! It's done another 1000 miles, so it's now on 35,800. However, it's come back with no brakes and a blown headgasket :-( Not to worry, it's back with me and it'll get sorted in time. So I'm up to four...
