Not bought any Halfords but have 2 sets of 3 leg stick the pin in the tube types and 2 sets of ratchet Machine mart strong arm and some Michelin from Lidl. All are useful at different heights and some have larger platforms at the top so are suited to different parts of the car. As i have so many I pick the most suitable pair for location then use more for extra safety wedged in where they fit.

As above, I have some Halfords pin adjusted axle stands. Been under the car for about a year so far, and no complaints. They also have the 3 legs of each attached at the bottom with a plate, so they shouldn't separate over time/use either

Iv'e got the advanced ones in 2 tonnes.
Perfectly good and a finer degree of height adjustment than the old school pin type.
You can buy rubber pucks from eBay to protect the underside too.

Ive got the crapier looking yellow ones . They don't look very good or strong but do the job . They are from Halfords so they will do what they say and will be built ok.
I must admit though that the advanced black ones for £7 more would inspire a lot more confidence and piece of mind ! And they look like they have more adjustment .

I have a couple of sets of the ratchet type - not Halfords but look identical - they have been used professionally for the last 3 years without issue - the only one thing that I would say regardless of whose make the ratchet type are is to keep your hands well clear of the riser when you lift the ratchet leaver / pawl - has the riser will fall to rest at speed within the stand - well capable of removing a finger nail or trapping skin in quite a painful way

I've got one set of each of the Halfords ones and they both work fine. The ratchet type feel infinitely better made and are much easier to work with. The cheaper ones will do the job but they aren't as well put together - you're far better off spending the extra few quid on the ratchet type.
