Ok so i have a buyer lined up to collect the RS2000 on Thursday. Now I'm having second thoughts on witch car to keep. You cant really compare either car but witch ever one i keep is going into storage for a couple of years. Question is witch one is going to increase the most. frank horrigan death

Cant really compare the too, I like the simplicity of the Escort and the low cost running but i also like the drive and power of the Porsche but that comes at a price.

I'll keep the Porsche. It's something a bit more exclusive, beautiful model etc. That model Ford never did it for me.

911 for me.
Looks like that’ll be a dual row IMS with a cable throttle which personally I think is the one to buy! Aero kit is a huge plus as well and lapis blue is a decent colour. Is it manual?

RS for me. A modernish Porsche doesn't do much for me. The RS is probably rarer now as most have rotted away

It's all down to what you really want - personally neither of these do it for it me - I would be up for moving them both on and investing in a nice Aston while the prices are affordable

Why do you have those 2 cars? What is the story with them? If it’s about maximising profit, then you should probably sell and buy something that is just about to go through the roof... but if you have these two models because they mean something to you then you should keep whichever means the most. Other than that, I imagine the Escort will be a cheaper easier fix after a 2 year layup, but more likely to rust... but old Fords seem to be going up in value a lot currently. The 911 is more complicated, better built, but for those reasons would be more expensive to do things too. The one I’d chose would be a heart decision, I wouldn’t care too much about the future value, but I grew up with old Volkswagens so straight away would go for the 911, I’d then worry about damaging it, not drive it and end up selling it to buy something that I wouldn’t worry about so that’s no help at all

I’m quite surprised at the value of some DB7 and DB9s. Having driven a DB9 Vantage for quite a long period of time they certainly are a cracking car. Sound lovely as well. Certainly seems the time to buy and are 100% on my radar currently.

I bought the escort just becouse it was so clean. Bought the porsche becouse I couldn't afford a air cooled 911. Will probably end up selling both and maybe replace the 911 for a z3m...

The 911 (996) is starting to gather momentum as the first water cooled 911. Values are climbing but that's no reason to keep any car. That looks like a nice spec with Aero kit so adds to desirability for those looking at an early 996.
The RS2000 Escort is relatively rare as they are usually rusted to death or the split across the floor pan by now.
If you think a Porsche would be a money pit to keep try owning an early (FORD ownership) Aston.
I know which i'd keep but i'm a bit biased.

I thought this was carried over into the db9, but I must be wrong. Having done some reading I think the correct model was the Volante. It was a V12 convertible. Was a wonderful car.

You know your porsche's. Yes cable C2 manual with a new duel row ims fitted. Thank you. I am very fond of the 996 911 and I personally think they will continue to rise. As comparison 5 years ago I looked at a C2 manual, silver, sports seats, aero kit, early cable model, 85k and if I remember correctly it was either £7,500 or £8,500. I opted for an E46 M3 instead, regretfully. The same 911 now would be worth significantly more now. A quick browse online will show that these earlier 996 models are gathering value quickly and I can’t see it stopping anytime soon. People are wanting the early ones it would seem. So beard on that I’d say keep the 996. That said I have extremely limited knowledge on fords.

All this Aston Martin talk has got me going to. If I was to win big a Aston Martin would be first on the list.

Pedant mode. DB9 Vantage isn't a thing. Every day is a school day! The V12 DB7 was the vantage wasn’t it? I thought this was carried over into the db9, but I must be wrong. Having done some reading I think the correct model was the Volante. It was a V12 convertible. Was a wonderful car. yes the db7 was a straight 6 supercharged in standard form so they did a vantage with the V12 engine. DB9 was only available with the V12 so no need for vantage model. Any case where the DB9 came out a vantage became a stand alone model. I've driven a DB9 on a track, wasn't impressed. Handling wasn't great, felt back heavy, gearbox Very slow to respond and the brakes on the particular car I drove were warped. Interior didn't really feel 100 grand more expensive than my Volvo either. I was lucky enough to be lent a nearly new vanquish for a long weekend. That was a different kettle of fish. Fantastic in every respect. Friends had a V8 vantage, never drove that but supposed to be more drivers car and better balanced than a DB9.
