Nice to see on one of your other threads that you are doing some work on your own Jowett. Watch out for the flash of reflections through the hedge (binocular & camera lenses). THEY will be watching you!!!!!! ... and won't know the difference between professional and personal work!!!
Just as an aside are those markers in the hedgerow for water/gas/electricity, if so have all the access points now been buried under the hardcore and grass? Again, suggest you keep a photo record of the goings on across the road. You don't want to be blamed by the utility people for covering their access points or worse, get a bill.

Hi, Those look like stop valve and hydrant sign posts, used to indicate their size and location if they are obscured. If it's been grassed over the fire brigade or water board wouldn't hesitate to dig them out.

I await the next petty complaint which will be I'm working on a vehicle outside of the hours detailed within the planning permission for the workshop - let them try - its non commercial - not for reward & is a vehicle that I have owned personally for the last ten years (and they are very much aware of that fact) - I have little doubt that they will have a camera on the go at some stage but if that's what they want to waste their time doing then so be it

I foresee a complaint when you roll Pete's Corsair out of the shop...., with neighbors insisting you're working on NEW cars, not classics..
Oh well, more entertainment value for us,

I would not be able to resist a good wind up if i knew i was being watched by nosey people, Maybe a bit of Derren Brown and Jonathan Creek trickery to make them think they were losing their minds.

I'm all for winding up the trouble stirrers, but at the end of the day you just make trouble for yourself when you have to live and work in the vicinity of these people.

Is it illegal in England for a neighbor to have a camera that watches your property? Just going by a recent thread on RR about camera systems

I have marked this as liking it, but I don't really. I certainly don't like people that I admire being b*ggered about especially by morons.

So here goes - yesterday afternoon I was visited by 2 fine members of the Hampshire Constabulary - they introduced themselves and explained that they were making enquires into an alleged breach of privacy - I invited them in and asked how I could help - in turn they requested if I had any problems with any of my neighbours to which I responded that I didn't however my immediate neighbours had a problem with me - then explained the background of my business / planning permission / fact that I don't converse with the said residents of that property has I hold no reason to after what I had been put through over the last 12 months - equally I do not go out of my way to create any issues either - I just keep myself to myself, get on with my own life and enjoy what I do - They went on to explain that a complaint had been lodged that the security camera on the gable of my workshop overlooked their property and in doing so was a breach of their privacy - so here is the said camera Its a dome type fixed angle & fixed focus type A view of the workshop with my back against their boarder / hedgerow Views of both up and down the lane And finally a direct view from my drive of the property owned by the loathsome neighbours - note the height of the hedgerow - its 2.8 metres - the view from my camera shows the area immediately outside of the workshop and the lane plus about 500mm in height of their hedgerow The officers were all fine with this - had absolutely no issues whatsoever and went on to explain that the matter is outside of the police remit anyway - its a civil matter but its a really nice area where we reside with a proper community and the police will help & advise whenever & wherever they can - they spent longer talking about the business and the cars - advised me not be concerned with the issue - shook my hand and off they went It does however raise a few issues: Firstly - Why the hell would I want to view what Mr & Mrs Miserable are up to in their vegetable plot to the side their property Secondly - The camera has been there 12 months why has it taken them this long to gripe about it Thirdly - Its an identical camera in the identical location (to the point that I used the same cable aperture & screw / masonry plug holes) That the previous owner of our property had his camera sited for in excess of 5 years and they never complained then So clearly and much has I suspected it I am their personal 'Target' - to date I have just kept my head down - not conversed with them - just gone about my life has I normally would have - its pointless me generating any fuel that they in turn can use has ammunition against me - however my patience with them is somewhat wavering & rapidly wearing thin - I don't want to waste my time but I am at the verge of spending a few hundred quid and having the strongest worded correspondence forwarded via a solicitor to them setting out the civil legal actions that I am prepared to take if this nonsense of false & fabricated allegations continues. Needless to say its not just a waste of my time but that of our already over stretched public services. Why they could not have approached me with their concerns or even sent a letter / note - I would have willingly invited them around to view the monitor (and then laughed in their faces whilst escorting them off the property) They must live much sadder lives than I ever gave them any credit for

I was asked to remove a camera which was on my old house by an alcoholic criminal, It seems he had an issue with his civil liberties being interfered with, I said no chance but i would blank his side of the road out but he wanted it completely removed, It got nasty and he ended up saying he would rip it down at which point i called the police, During the chat they had with him at his house they spotted lots of boxes of stolen items... Brain dead people will always have a reason for annoying others. @grumpynorthener i have a nice looking PTZ camera and bracket you could put up as a dummy if you want to keep them guessing.

..... ........"a complaint had been lodged that the security camera on the gable of my workshop overlooked their property and in doing so was a breach of their privacy"...... They must live much sadder lives than I ever gave them any credit for Sadder, yes. And..., who is spying on who? You have a view of their rooftop over the hedge, but they must be breaching YOUR privacy by spying through the hedge or through high mounted cameras they must have trained on your property in order to raise concern of your camera. It would be a crying shame if their karma caused a nearby truckload of weasels to escape captivity and decimate their chickens... Wish these unhappy people would get a life and grow up... Lance

I am in charge of a security camera which partialy overlooks an adjoining yard. I told the owner prior to installation, she came to see the image being recorded and we blanked out an area of view as requested. The camera still sees the boundary wall of her yard and she is now pleased that she gets security at someone else's expense. Its called give and take. There is also something called persecution, voyerism, harrasment etc etc, and a half decent solicitor or police officer will sort it out for you quickly. Perhaps its time to call in at the local police station (if you can find it) and have a further word, or invest half an hour of your valuable time for a free legal consultation with a view to sending that letter. Most solicitors offer a free first consultation to see if a case is worth pursuing. This attitude is clearly inflammatory and intimidatory. Also a letter to the local council would not be out of place in view of their previous ruling.
