Hi all, Busy getting our spare engine ready to fit the Land Rover and as a 2.3 engine out of an early 110 it has a weber dmtl carb which apparently is a good thing. Thing is it doesn't have an air filter and the chances of finding the correct LR one are slim. Apparently this carb was fitted to various fords and VW's so probably makes sense to look for a s/h one of these as a nice shiny K&N one is 80 of your finest pounds. Anybody got a recommendation for a nice simple round OE filter that would fit ? Thanks in advance. James

Find an air filter box you like the look of and make it fit? Most are easy enough to modify; for the DCD I fitted on the Ford V4 in my Saab 96, I've modified the air filter housing of the original carb (Solex 32TDID). I tried one of those shiny K&Ns, but I couldn't stand the hissing it produced, paper filters are much nicer in my opinion.

I had a DMTL replacement on my Mk2 Cavalier. I ended up cutting the base out of the standard air box and rivited in a new alloy base plate to suit. The adaptor supplied with the kit was rubbish. I'm pretty sure you could get a cast elbow to fit onto the carb but not sure where it came from. It might have been off a Land Rover as I think they were the only cars fitted with them from new.

Is the DMTL the square topped Weber? Like this? If so, I have an XR3 filter housing in VGC if it would be any use?

I think that’s what we have, after a bit of googling ( not much out there it was a very short run version of the 110) it went from this to a front mounted canister style filter. Hopefully we can get a bit of hose and a filter of some sort to go onto this. Thanks for looking it up ! James

Not an air filter but came across this when doing a search.. may be of some use? link Thanks for that - interesting reading, its an early 110 engine so looks like it should all work if we can get a suitable exhaust. James
