hi, here i have a 1972 early, pre-facelift mk 3 cortina, extra luxury model.
this is a very solid, and well preserved ford which was waxoiled and stone-guarded from new. the car has had very little welding in its past, and has been fitted with a very comfy recaro interior.
the cortina was treated to a respray last year, in its original colour- daytona yellow. the full respray included the inside and engine bay areas.
being a early example, this cortina benifits from having the 1600 crossflow engine, as oppose to the later, less desirable 1600 pinto block.
the engine is currently out of the car and is being rebuilt. the gearbox still in situ. the block has had a full set of gaskets fitted, and is about to recive core plugs and a fresh coat of paint. the head has been skimmed in the past, and re-bored +04.0 mm.
i have quite a bit of paperwork with this car, past mot's etc and obviously the present v5c.
now i am currently working on this car, and i will happily finish the work and have a 'drive away' restored cortina with a full mot on for the new owner, however as I'm advertising it in advance to that, if anyone was interested in getting the car much cheaper, and finishing the work themselvs then thats fine if any interested parties can let me know ASAP. to finish the car, all parts are present as far as I'm aware; it is just now a case of dropping the block into the bay, on the new mounts i have, then plumbing and wiring it in, fitting the grille, lights and ancillaries and taking it in for an mot ( although i must add that technicaly this being a '72 car is tax and mot exempt now ).
price for car as is; £5000
price for car totaly finished and mot'd is; £7500
any interest please do get in touch, real straight and honest car, well looked after, just needs a loving new owner!
thanks, matt
