Hi all,
This is my first thread here on RR, it is great to see a forum still so active! I am bit of a Lancia fanatic, owning 2 HF Turbos, a Beta Volumex and a Dedra Turbo. I will look to have a thread for each of these, as the Beta, and now both Deltas are off the road and are projects. This thread however will be about possibly the most under rated Lancia in my little collection, the Dedra Turbo.
Just a little back story on how I acquired her, I will try not to drivel on too long! She was owned by a professor somewhere around London who used them mostly to amble to and from Waitrose. in his advancing years he decided two was too many, and sold one to Zagato Lancia in London. Zagato now mainly focuses his efforts on the top end Deltas, and as such it wasn't really worth his time in getting the Dedra Turbo back to a roadworthy state. there was't a huge amount wrong with her - she was mechanically perfect but had some bodywork issues (what Lancia doesn't!). The sills had a couple of holes each side, and both nearside doors were rotting away nicely at the bottom. Being rosso red the paint was fading on some panels, and one rear wing has a dent in. Lastly the spoiler needed repalcing as many of the fixings were broken, and the paint was flaking badly. Zagato was contemplating scrapping her, and using her for parts. The engine for instance is the 2.0 Delta Integrale engine. I was luckily in the right place at the right time, and agreed to buy her for £300. Early one Saturday in November 2017 i ventured down the A1 to go collect her, and bring her home.

sees to be working now . The above image was at the garage after the sills were welded. It turns out the sills were very bad, and was encroaching the floor so I shipped her to my body man who fabricated the sills and replaced them. You can see the rotting doors in the picture above. As part of the deal Clive at Zagato gave me two nearside doors. They were both the wrong colour, but rust free none the less! After many hours cleaning her, polishing and waxing she really did come up a treat. in the last picture above you can see the dent I mentioned earlier. Also the interior, I love the dash in this car!

Last year I was a bit lazy, and was just enjoying being out and about in her. She really is fun to drive, and when needed she has the power to hand! Being a late 80s / early 90s turbo car, there is no boost until about 2500 revs which at this time it must be what entering warp speed is like, you are thrown back into the chair...hard! This year I have a few jobs to complete on her whilst she is tucked up warm and dry in the garage for winter. The Alcantara interior is very tired, the doors need replacing with the two spare I have, and she seems to have a boost problem. when the boost comes on it will die out shortly after coming on, but then refind herself and she is away. this happens in every gear. I have striped and cleaned all the intake, and inspected the Intercooler which seem fine. Before Christmas I was told of a Dedra Turbo which had been seen in a scrap yard a few weeks before. I went down and sure enough she was there intact. It was a miserable day, with relentless torrential rain but thankfully they moved the car in a barn for me to go through. all that was missing was the steering wheel, but whoever did remove it kindly left all the doors open. a shame i thought! as this was a car showing 45000 miles on the clock, and a very very nice blue alcantara interior. It was rather soggy and had plenty of dirt on it, but it didn't appear to have any stains. I stripped the whole interior barring carpet for mine, as well as the dash and ECU (never hurts to have a spare ) and also i took the spoiler. All cleaned up looking fantastic That's it so far for the Dedra. Over the coming weeks, as I get to work on her i will make sure to take pictures and keep anyone interested updated in my progress.

Very rare here when new And even rarer now , I like that very much Thanks Mercdan. I am quite torn at the moment, I think as she is rare it would be good to leave her standard and as she is I have fallen in love. I planned on buying her to save her from scrap, get her on the road and sell, but i fell in love with her all to easy and can;t find it in myself to sell her (my girlfriend is thrilled with that!) Another part of me though is toying with the idea of a subtle exhaust, and a few tweaks to really help the potential out of the Fiat twin cam. I even have a set of high rise cams i am debating using.

I’ve got threads for both 155’s one I’m fitting a fiat coupe 20vt engine in it. The other 155 is a v6 skinny and have a thread for my Alfa 33 1.7ie which has been stored in a barn since 2002/3. Also have a Alfa 156 Gta 2004 and have a Alfa Gtv 3.0 phase 1

Nice result on that interior!...look after that engine and it will reward you in spades! In my youth i had a fiat 131 sport oh how i wish it was still mine Whats the exhaust note like on it? Has it got that beautiful spine tingling rasp that makes you drive 20 miles out of your way just so you can go through a long tunnel in third gear with the windows open?

The engine is in great shape, and I will keep on top of fluids, belts etc. I would love a Fiat 131, definitely very near the top of my wish list! they seem few and fat between now, and what ones are left don't seem cheap!
The exhaust is pretty mundane on idle, and does not sound anything special. Under throttle though it does come into it's own and sounds lovely, especially when the turbo is singing at full boost! I have done many detours just to keep listening to the engine singing away . I wouldn't want to lose that, but would like to improve on it slightly, especially at idle if possible.

I haven't updated this in a while as I haven't really done anything. I did buy a set of Saab alloys for her, which i though would really suit her however the Lancia PCD is 4x98, and these are 4x108 so not sure if it will too much of a difference for an adaptor plate, so may just sell them on. I have the opportunity to buy a set of these Speedlines for £200. They are 16 inches, so think that is a reasonable price? I finally got myself in gear tonight, and started swapping the interior out from the grey to the powder blue. in just an hour and a half i managed two door cards, front drivers seat, and the rear bench. I should have it finished tomorrow. They are a bit dirty, but apart from one minor hole in the rear bench are in tip top condition. I am thinking later this week of paying a professional valeter to come and give the interior a complete clean so she is like new inside. The weather has a real spring like feel to it at the moment, so decided to get her out the garage, and plan on using her as a daily whilst the weather is good Apologies for the photo quality, it maybe y phone, but i suspect i just need to give it more attention when taking photos, and slow down!

Nice looking Dedra! Amaizingly rust free also. Mine already started showing it's age with some rust spots, especially underneath.

Thank you. Her left side isn't that rust free, both the door bottoms on the nearside are rotten and there is some pitting coming through on the rear arch . I have two rust free doors with a spray shop at the moment which I will swap onto her, and some point will repair the rear arch.
mine is remarkably solid underneath, but I did have to replace both sills and jacking points early last year.
Do you still have yours?

What are you doing with the grey seats? Nothing planned. I don't really want to bin them as they are fine but don't have the room to store too many Dedra parts. You are welcome to them if you want them?

Yes I still have it. It is patiently waiting in a garage almost 2 years now for me to pull my finger out and change the release bearing on the clutch, which by the way on the 4x4 version is not an easy task. Yeah I know I'm making excuses... But you should not do like I do. Keep up the great work and enjoy the kick in the neck after the turbo lag.
