I bought the Volvo in September from Stowmarket, North of Ipswich and drove it back nearly 300 miles and it never missed a beat. I have had a bit of missing since but i have tracked that down to dirt in the fuel tank so that needs to be sorted soon Its been resprayed but has never been welded or any sign of damage. My plans are to lower it a touch and fit some nice alloys, i would also like to get a set of SU carbs from a !22S and also convert the head to unleaded. probably fit electronic ignition as well. It has overdrive and can cruise easy at 70mph... I will also have to get the seats recovered at some time. What ever i do to it must be fully reversible back to standard but i never plan to sell it. Once i learn to do it i will download some pictures but so far everything has failed

Thanks I like the look of these wheels ( Torque Thrust ) I don't want Minilites as it starts to look like a Rally Car and I want it more of a cruiser...

I'll get a set of the torques for the summer, they are 15s in the pic but might go to 16s as I can get a closer original Tyre diameter using them. Also on the lookout for a manifolds and twin SUs from a 122s. Also need these seats sorted they have been marked as the car sat for years and had stuff dumped on them. Luckily there are black so lots of Amazon's had the same. I've had some silly prices for recovering them !! But still asking around. Thanks guys for the comments.

I have managed to buy a pair of SU's and manifold from a P1800, a real lucky find. Still got a lot more cleaning to do to them, i will need to rebuild them as they have not been used for 35 years. Would like to find a Cylinder head now so I could have is gas flowed and modified for unleaded ready to fit. Then a better cam, exhaust manifold and system plus electronic ignition..

Lovely car and those new wheels will really suit it.
I'd go with an Electronic Ignition system first.

Amazon Cars, Brookhouse, and Classic Swede do many standard parts and tuning bits and bobs. Things like wheels are also not a problem as the PCD is the same as a lot of early muscle cars so some nice retro alloys available. Plus there are a few different owners clubs around the country. Strangely a lot of the places are in the East of the country around the Ipswich area. I don't think its a bit a problem to keep the car running for many years to come especially as they are so reliable in the first place.

Very nice!
btw a lot of the mods you mention won't detract from the value if it did come to resell, so I wouldn't worry about it too much

I was hoping that but what ill do is keep everything i have taken off so it could be returned to standard easily, i would never cut the car in way to its all just spanner work to return it.. I'm not using it much through the winter i I want to keep the salt of her, so cant wait for the warmer weather again. Ill start a page for my other car ASAP....that will never be returned to standard!!

Nice car it's great to hear from other owners, is the suspension bridge your parked by in Newport ? What wheels and tires have you fitted, I was measuring yesterday and if I can get the correct back space 7in wide looks no problem. Do you recommend any other mods?

It was taken at transporter bridge in teeside. No idea on the wheels, I bought them on eBay as saw them on a car for spares and wanted them! I fitted gaz suspension and polybushed the whole car when we got it, and I put a Perkins primal diesel in it shortly after. It goes well with a of tweaking, and does 45mpg. Not for the purists, but at the time we were on the rebound from a very expensive mistake new Citroen that cost 12,000 for 4 years unreliable motoring, so bought this and made it cheap to run. The interior is mint, and too good for daily use, so I removed it and fitted Citroen XM leather electric and heated seats.

that sounds great I am after a better interior for mine in the future, i want to keep it looking standard on the inside and very subtle changes outside... Polybush is a good idea will add to my list.
