I fitted a pair of Avon Tourist Crossplys to the rear of my Jowett Javelin - they were supplied by Longstone tyres - I was very pleased with how the car handled when I fitted them to replace the Waymaster Premiums that were on there originally
So you can imagine my disappointment with a few days before I took the car on a 1600 mile round trip to Switzerland that I found cracked sidewalls on both of tyres
At this stage the tyres had been on the car less than 12 months and covered a mere 1,000 miles - I called Longstone and explained the situation - first thing they did were delay the courier who was at their depot collecting for onward deliveries - they then packaged up two new tyres for the courier to take and then rang me back to advise that they were on their way - I forwarded images of the defects on the tyres, confirmed the pressure that I ran them at etc - the following morning the 2 new tyres were with me hence allowing enough time to get them fitted to the rims before I left for Switzerland. Longstone then arranged for the old tyres to be collected by a courier - it's been several weeks but Longstone called me back yesterday to inform that Avon had offered a full credit for the tyres along with an apology for any inconvenience.
In this day & age it's genuinely nice to witness first hand proper service from a supplier & manufacture - if only the rest of the industry followed suite
