Ive just bought a rather nice one of these. 1989 2.0 Auto. I was after a nice sensible modern-ish Daily after my Saab 9-5 blew up last week, but this cropped up while I was browsing through eBay. I briefly owned one in the same spec when I was an apprentice, and wished I had never got rid of it. So, after taking a thorough look, I just could not pass this up. Its a peach.
Apart from a couple of minor advisories on the last MOT, The only real thing wrong with it is that the Air con doesn't work. Can anyone tell me about the system used on these cars? I've done a little bit of digging so far, someone else must have worked on one before.
How do I tell whether its factory-fit, or a dealer-fit Diavia Kit?
Does it run on the old R12 gas and if so how can I tell?
If that's the case, how straightforward is it to convert it to R134a?
And how good actually is the original system? is it worth bothering with?
