One of the delights of old cars is the greasy residue on the insides of the glass, mainly the front screen really. I have tried a number of products to clean the inside of my windscreen and yet still there is that greasy sheen layer there, which isn;t at all visible until cold autumnal morning and then it steams up way quicker there than anywhere which is "clean" So far tried Windowlene, Autoglym glass polish and a similar product from Halfords with their own brand on it. anyone got any suggestions? I used to use Mer glass polish and that worked really well but not seen anyone selling it for ages.

I use windowlene and then Autoglym glass polish and it works fine for me. What sort of fumes are coming out of your defroster vents?

Yeah, its only when the low sun hits it and its a bit misted and the whole screen just seems to go opaque.
Sign summer is over.

Needs to be the sort of newspaper where the ink DOES come off on your fingers. Fancy ink jobs do not work.

What you need is an open knuckled driving glove and the back of your hand! Thats what my Grandad used to do in his '64 Cooper S (usually when tanking round a tight bend!) True Retro! Perfect ;D

Have you tried the Autoglym Fast Glass Spray? Ive always used it to good effect.
Don't spray on too much, rub with some kitchen roll vigoursly, then with a new piece of kitchen roll make sure its all rubbed off.
You can re-use the first piece of kitchen roll when doing the next window/part of a window.

Cillit Bang would probably do it - might also dissolve the windscreen though! - and you'd have to put up with Barry Scott shouting at you!!

I use some glass cleaner I 'borrowed' off the cleaning ladies at work. 'Premiere' I think it's called, spray on, wipe off with some clean cloth. Even worked a treat on my old wagon (in the days when we were allowed to smoke in the cab ).

I got some stuff that was left in the back of the VX - "Diamond Bright Window Cleaner" - it was fantastic !!
Really super duper - smelt like it would melt striaght through the screen... wow.
I left it in my garage on the floor - On it's side. Theres none left now. curse word.
Gonna google it...

AAAHHH, this drives me mental, I spent half an hour one sunday morning laying across my dash trying to get as much leverage into the shammy as possible.
No difference, vinegar and paper on it's way.

No, no, no, no NO!. Hot water and fairly liquid plus sponge. Dip sponge in bucket of water/washing up liquid, squeeze it almost dry. Do one window at a time (or half of the windscreen) then wipe off with clean dry newspaper. Works everytime for me and costs next to nothing and doesn't smell like vinegar does.
