I was also going to suggest waxing it, but I get a bit bored of jobsworths criticising other people's suggestions as bodges. A pot of Poorboys "Nattys" carnuba wax in a dark colour (probably the black or blue - it doesnt colour anything it's transparent once on, but if it's a dark wax it doesnt leave light patches of residue in rough areas, pits or scratches) would be better than a liquid wax. It goes on thick to ensure a good coating, and it can be worked into rough areas with a bit of elbow grease. Use a small kitchen sponge to daub it on to rough areas so you don't get cloth fibres snagged on the surface which are hard to remove because they're stuck to the wax. Once cured and polished back it leaves a nice waterproof shell. Plus it smells very nice too. I personally would avoid any applications of clear coat lacquers and do as others have already suggested and apply a good quality wax - you will achieve better results if you were to remove any residues on the existing paintwork first and this is very quickly achieved by the application of a spirit / panel wipe - personally again I would just utilise a clear wax and not a coloured wax - nothing wrong at all with patina but a fake / applied patina just looks god dam awful in my book

Thank you gentlemen! You have put my wandering mind to rest with good advice and it's appreciated. Will order some Poorboys so that it's to hand when blessed with a decent few days weather.Looking forward to summer and getting some miles under the belt.

Cheers Grizz! She is running well and managed to do some minor work over lockdown! Painted the inner wings and radiator support panel and the tub then did some spannering and removed most of the old smog kit from the motor. A few gaskets replaced and all fluids done too. It also had a buffing last weekend which has bought out a bit more shine and now I need to find the time to apply a new to me product called Owatrol. This French product seems to get good results at patina preservation Pictures will follow in due course

I have a pair of these, windscreen smashed on one. I bought both, as one was planned for you. Let me know if you want one and I will send it.

After much umming & aarring, the 67 has left Derbyshire with it's new owner near Cambridge. Its been 2 great years with her but the future is changing with longer driving times on the horizon. An old truck is total fun but with a serious lack of creature comforts, I needed sommat a "bit" newer............ Agree with grizz - 'tis a shame but I am sure it's for the right reasons.
