Rare Mk4 Ford Cortina 2 door. The car was originally a 1.3 base but at the some point in the past has been painted green and fitted with a 2.0 pinto engine and 5 speed type 9 gear box. I've also fitted it with a set of fishnet recaro seats I think originally came from an RS2000.
It's now tax exempt. It's also MOT exempt. MOT is expired but will have a full years MOT at sale.
I've had it for a few years but hardly use it. I've done 150 miles in it this year if I'm lucky. I think at this point I'd rather have a more original mk4 or 5.
Plus:
rare 2 door
converted to 2.0 pinto engine with normal weber carb but fitted with electronic ignition.
5 speed type 9 gear box
fishnet recaro seats
new water pump and fuel pump
solid
New subframe front bushes, void bushes and all the other ones that are a swine to replace
new -1 springs
Solid. (or as solid as a cortina can be)
Minus.
Needs new shocks. They're not leaking but the ride isn't the best.
Has had a fair of welding
Isn't the easiest to start from cold. I've fitted a manual choke to help this.
Has the wrong 1.3 diff in it
I made a pretty awful job of some paint work on it. There's also some grinder sparks rusted into the bonnet (oops) and the odd bit I've cleaned up and touched
in with red oxide.
rev counter doesn't work
Starter can be bit lazy sometimes.
Various weird noises cortina make.
I have two keys with it but there's no history. Mileage is a bit unknown. As the speedo is not from the original car and I think the engine may be from a Sierra! I have the v5 in my name.
I'd be interested in a deal with a cheaper mk5 cortina or a Sierra. Any question the ask away.
I'd advise to coming to see it and giving it a good look over before making a decision.
I'm in Ayrshire on the west coast of Scotland
