The fullsize buck coming along nicely Enlarged from Franco's drawings 102% length and 104% width to fit MR2 ^^^ 'Just' doing that is worth a thread on it's own. And here was me thinking I'm great for sorting out a few straight forward issues on a car! Great thread, great project ( and a half). Rock On!

Cheers Been distracted by; finishing resto 1955 Peugeot 203 for my wife..all done now and running sweet(the car not the wife) prepping and racing the V12 XK120 went great till the diff broke disc-brake conversion and engine rebuild on my 65 Galaxie, nearly ready for some summer cruising
Planning to have a big glue-up on the Stradale buck real soon, cant wait till all the profiles are in place and I can start laying the skin on and really see the shape. I have made the sills and underside of the nose removable so I can flip them over for shaping and fibreglassing
I paid NZD$1600 for the 3 litre V6 engine shown in the pic, a couple of weeks ago I saw a dead Alfa 156 2.5 24valve 6 speed on the side of the road in the 'hood, we tracked the "owner" down and got the whole car for NZD$500, put some gas in it and drove it home!Would make a good race car (cause I don't have enough projects)

This is epic work v12turbo. How will you finish the buck? Are you going to use foam or plaster?

I am going to fit as many mdf strips as I can, including tapered ones, all glued to the bulkheads and to each other. Then a bit of a dress-up with plaster and the orbital sander with some agressive sandpaper.(shouldnt need much if I did my job right on the patterns) Foam blocks in the front corners,Then a layer of brown packaging tape(releases from polyester resin really well). Then 1 layer 450gram CSM/polyester,fair it all up with polyester/microshere blend, another layer 450g CSM, then a final fairing layer, finishing the shell off with Duratec spray-on polyester filler and lots of work with the big long sanding blocks. Then prise the shell off the package-tape skinned plug .The sills and nose undertray are removable from the plug, I will glass them on the bench so no upside-down glassing. The only problem area for pulling the shell up and away are the side-scoops, will have to reach in through the scoops and smash the mdf a bit to clear the obstruction. I have marked out the door and window openings with protruding screws, these will leave holes in the shell to guide me when I mark and cut the panels. The cutout pieces will serve as moulds for the polycarbonate windows(all compound curves) If I get a good week in (not too many mates coming around for a yak) I reckon I might be laying out some fibreglass cloth pretty soon...I am just going to try and stay on this roll till I have a shell

That is just mind blowing! Also just went through all your posts on RR and found more mind blowing stuff.. you have some SERIOUS skills, both in design AND fabrication. Not a thing with any one of them I would change... all simply stunning! Take it you are down CCH way? If i win lotto I might just take a trip down south and take that rolling body off your hands

no CAD package, just paper, pencils, and the local copy centre enlarging the plans up to fullsize, then jigsaw cut the formers

Outstanding work! I think if this car was released today it would look modern, half a century ago it must have looked like alien technology:
