I’ve been a member on here for quite a while and normally I’m selling something or lurking in the background becoming jealous of your awesome old skool rides. I have a Fiesta MK3 which I never really considered retro but I suppose it is especially as they are pretty thin on the ground these days. It does have a bit of a story so read on if your interested if not scroll down to some pics. I purchased the car in 2013, it was sat at the bottom of someone’s (very large) garden in an apple orchard, it was his daughters, she had emigrated and left the car behind. It had sat for 3 years. Expecting the worst but fancying a gamble I paid the £75 and took it home. On inspection there was no rot...I couldnt really understand it, how does a 90s Ford which has been sat on grass for so long not rotted! Got it MoTd and tinkered with it for a bit, then ended up giving it to nan as she was struggling with manual steering in her car. She had it for couple of years until she passed away, I got the car back as I decided I wanted to participate in a charity rally to raise money for cancer research in her honour. Made it to Prague and back with no issues! This also explains the transformation from Fiesta to ‘Fiestank’

So it got a budget paint job and a roof rack! Two years on and i'm still using it as my daily run about! It was never going to win any prizes so I thought why not just have some fun and have a little on-going project to keep me busy! I know there will be plenty of haters out there, don't get me wrong I appreciate a polished up super tidy classic as much as the next guy but this is purely a bit of retro fun, if you cant see it for that then never mind, its meant to make you and me smile...that's it!
I recently picked up some RS Accessory wheels which turn out are pretty rare, I was owed a favour so got them fully refurbed and I reckon they look pretty sweet!
Ive replaced the tiered shocks for new gas units and got some 30mm lowering (but more importantly stiffer) springs. Replaced both front lower arms but changed the bushes for poly ones.
I've also get a power plant replacement in the pipeline - 2.0 Zetec which I removed from a low mileage mondeo, ive stripped and rebuilt it with new gaskets, valve stem seals, cambelt kit, water pump etc. The hardest part was sourcing all the parts as few mk3s had the zetec fitted.
Engine in progress -
As it currently sits -

To be honest I'd consider that shape retro. Let's face it we are on fiesta MK9 now... I borrowed one of the very last 1996 ones in 2006, a ten year old car it was knackered! but it was fun as it wasn't mine

Love it. Something I'd love to do, not particularly with a MK3 fiesta. I had one as a first car.
Just like the idea of something retro, run of the mill, and then fannying around with it.
Micra, fiesta, diesel 405... Old rover

Thinking about this car I’ve now placed where I’ve seen it, work in the area on a Thursday so I see it regularly ...

I think this is brilliant, and I really like the story behind the car. It maybe well known that in a ford fan, fiestas in particular, that I do like, amazed it didn't rot on the grass though!Keep up the good work!
