*****SOLD******
1995 Peugeot 205 1.8 D (non turbo)
89k miles
MOT 5th Nov 2018 (3.5 weeks)
60hp
60mpg
Future classic!!
Design icon!!
I bought this as a cheap runaround back in March and I no longer need such a cheap car. It will fail it’s MOT soon and quite frankly, I don’t want to bother fixing it.
It’s scruffy inside and out, the paint is poor and it has a long list of niggles which are listed below.
It came with no history so I had the following jobs done as a precaution:
Cambelt
Vacuum and PAS pump belts
Since then I’ve also had done:
New front wishbone
New driver’s side driveshaft
Repair to fuel lines under the car (they were leaking)
New discs and pads and a caliper was cleaned up
Other plus points:
Non sunroof, white 3-dr shell
GTi front valance (aftermarket GRP)
Auto bonnet with hump
106 XSi 6x14” alloys with correct bolts
No visible structural rust
Decent stereo with aux-in
Everything works (heated rear window, fan, lights – there’s not much else)
Bad bits:
There’s a selection of knocks from the front suspension. Previous MOT shows a top mount advisory, I suspect there’s more that needs doing.
The gaitor on the NS driveshaft is split.
The clutch is low, but doesn’t slip
The driver’s window drops a bit over bumps
Steering wheel is worn
There’s a rattle/squeak from the boot, I tried aligning the hatch but think it might be the spare wheel holder
The interior has hilarious bodges, like the catch for the glovebox.
Both front seats have splits and are badly faded
Some surface rust on the roofline
Paint is terrible
Bumpers are rough
Pics:
I’ve been using it every day to get to work and have recorded a reliable 58-62mpg (500+miles per tank, 39 litres to fill) and the torque pulls the basic little thing along well, it’s not fast but will cruise at 70mph on the motorway and keep up with traffic elsewhere.
Parts for these are seriously cheap and they’re easy enough to fix but I have lost interest and don’t need to be so frugal any more.
Comes with original 13” steels (ideal for cheap winter tyres – you won’t get stuck), some side badges and a grill badge, an alternator belt and some service kit like filters.
Enough MOT to get you home and fix it up. Would make a great project either a first, cheap to run retro or fit a turbo XUD, turn up the pump and blow people’s doors off
Asking £SOLD, collected from Forest Row, RH18.
