I have wanted a vertical compressor for a while now simply because they take up a smaller footprint than the traditional horizontal cylinder design. Having on a single garage, this was quite important to me spacewise and began looking in earnest at last years classic car show at the NEC. The current compressor is a little 25l Aldi "special" which has served me well over the last 8 years but obviously lacks any real punch so its use is rather limited. Anyhoo, browsing through the old gumtree during this week I came across the clearly very old but purposeful 100l vertical unit made by Ingersol Rand. Down I went to Nottingham and secured this old relic for the princely sum of £80. I've owned many old tools over the years and there's really something special about them getting on with it's task!

So here it is, made in 1957 and still running very well indeed and certainly up to the job testing a rattle gun out on it last night!

not got a pic but i have an old wolf drill mounted on a press , its a massive old thing and wouldn't want to hang on to it handheld and it takes an age to wind down when you shut it off. i have no idea how old it is , i'm guessing late 50's early 60's maybe?

Lovely old Myford super 7 lathe. Best ever tool was given to me from a printer. It's essentially a pillar drill but with different attachments for paper. Still going strong and used for polishing now. Oh and the whitworth tools from my pa. Love old tools, pics to follow!!

Hi, Very good drills but they are wrist breakers when hand held. Colin

Also have lots of old tools and like these more then modern ones. Latest purchase was a Singer sewing machine from approx 1940. was not used for a long time and stuck. Partially dismantled it, cleaned and lubricated it and used it to restore my Rover interior. So strong and solid and no plastic gears.

I love old tooling and find it a real shame that folks forget how to use them over time I run a Harrison L5 lathe from 1957. It makes do for most of what I need I also bought an old cast hand crank swager that I've re built and made new wheels for, to form panel sections for my project There's a certain satisfaction in renovating old equipment and returning it to use 👍

If it can be fixed with a hammer, then it must be an electrical fault

Dening Bros. bandsaw, C.1920. It concentrates the mind when standing next to 9 feet of whirling blade!

My antique Colchester Bantam is used and abused but constantly performs beyond it's apparent limitations. I love the little puppy!

heres the old thing... be interested to know just how old it is? My old man had a Desouter drill which looked similar to yours and remember using it as a youngster when he was at work! Bleedin thing shocked me once too!
