Issue occurs cold.
Everything is suspect. Dizzy cap, points plate, wires, plugs, coil.

Nice shine. Trust nothing in ign, replace the lot and then see. Plug leads and plugs do odd things under load that they don't do when tested statically.

That means a lot, but you haven't seen the paint up close... Phil For a car of this generation, unless that is what you are going for, it does not have to look brand new or perfect. What we see, through our screens looks pretty darn close and looks very appropriate! JP

Ooh, '52. Comes with fancy things like Dual-Range Hydra-Matic and uh, yeah. That!
Shame they have a mishmash of dial pulls but that is a really nice six.

It was very nice condition, you have nicer hubcaps and bonnet mascot though.

Well, things like hubcaps got changed up annually because changing the stamping for that is much cheaper than the tooling for the body.
GM were trying to milk every penny in '52 because of the Korean war and the steelworker strike. If you knocked your knuckles on the fenders of that one and then the same on a '53 you'd hear the difference. '53 the steel was a lot thinner, that one is more like an original Moggy Minor- clonk clonk to knock against.
The illuminated mascot was an option, also.
It's nice at that age (<1/9/1965) they don't have to screw with the wiring and pfaff about to put orange indicators in.

It made me think. What you think, standard straight arm truck peep mirrors or angle arm peeps?
I need to replace mine before inspection because one is cracked and all the silver's gone, and the other I cannot see anything out of because it won't adjust far enough.

That's kinda the direction I was thinking of going, keeps the mirror in line with the line of the windshield visor.

Yeah, I was thinking of various ways to sort it out, one method would be to drill it out, tap a thread in the hole and drill a bolt through it's center to the correct size and screw it in.
Then at least, like a bushing, it would be replaceable. Space is at a premium on the one that's gone sloppy.

The paint looks great for its age! how does the modern fuel affect the running or can you guys still get leaded stuff?
