I'm quite into my retro gaming and I've had a Raspberry Pi set up as a retro station for a while, but I decided I want to make it portable.
The process so far:
Start with one Raspberry Pi board:
Get a nice cheap screen from Amazon:
Attach the Pi board to the backing plate, remembering to use the little spacers to keep the board away from the plate:
Slot the screen onto the Pi board pins. You can use a ribbon cable if you want the screen to be separate from the board. I don't though:
Put the side panel on and connect the HDMI link:
Side posts on:
Top plate on:
Setup the wireless controller and it's good to go:
Some further additions I've made:
I made a little speaker from a solderless headphone jack and a speaker taken from a knock-off PSP:
Bought a powerbank, which powers the Pi without issues and lasts forever. Also got given a pop socket through work, so it can now be played on a table top:
I was also given a Pi model 3, so I switched the old Model 2B out. This gives me more power and built in Wifi and Bluetooth, so no need for ugly dongles anymore.
