Sometimes things really do pee me off. So I ordered a 1/2 inch spacer to get the air cleaner raised and fitted to the Holley carb in the Blazer. Ermmmm, Nope. Too tight, just no way of fitting it. Call in the side cutters, and duct tape. After correcting it, the gap was about 2mm and I placed it where there was a metal wall. Done. I will apologise in advance, but yesterday Harley was on one of her missions, holding tools, inspecting, approving and generally being an absolute pain in the butt. Certainly had the wind up her tail. Kept on walking about the engine bay, despite me putting her on the ground repeatedly. It was cold, and the wet and chill combined made me realise she is just mad for being out there. Typically she to try out the perch. Settling on the edge while I fitted the PCV valve to the truck as well. So needed the latest bit of action on the Blazer.

Harley sure is demanding more of your attention, right? You better give or she will pee where you do not want her to do so.

Air filter looks good but Harley looks better. She does make me laugh. Often she is around my feet like a mother, trying to get me back into the house, shouting and performing. And then the whole in the job thing. Harley sure is demanding more of your attention, right? You better give or she will pee where you do not want her to do so. She has that down to a fine art too. So I just give in. And..... For your amusement This car came in for a silencer repair as it got a bit noisy. Wonder if any other issues were addressed. Yes, in South Africa. Thought the Blazer had some issues.

Emergency backup generators at a hospital? Looks that way. Many years ago, the ex-father in law was the Chief Engineer responsible for the switchover from analogue to digital phones for GPO (as they then were). He took me to the main office in Manchester on a genny test day. Impressive. Very impressive.

Emergency backup generators at a hospital? Yup. no , it wont fit on the blazer!! Nope. Yup. Privilege for sure. They are unlikely to be emergency - they will be CHP running all the time typically as they are gas engines - emergency gens are typically diesel sets. That's probably a Jenbacher in that colour. Someone in accounts will be crying that its not running that's for sure - They have to run at 1500 RPM +- 50 RPM to match the alternator with the grid frequency. My day job is dealing with those components above your head but most of those from our competitor /previous employer Karl Dungs. Quite warm and noisy when its running in there. Correct. Heating, and electricity that is sold back into the National Grid Still loved it.

First of the “Not a Project” stickers applied...... Yup, to Prozac’s rear screen. Half the pallets still in the rear as they need individual dismantling nail by nail, joint by joint. Parcel in the post this week, contents included two Stars n Stripes flags in shredded, Florida hurricane attacked state, plus some stickers and targets for my shooting, from Gary “Mr Zog” Also some wheels for my work bag that my good friend Lee the lawyer had managed to get for me. New and old..... Loads of miles the last three years. And the little carved stone bat I had seen in Hannibal in September on the USA road trip, same shop I met her at the time. I should have bought it at the time. Love it. Went down to start the Blazer this morning, not started or moved it in 4weeks, seriously. Pumped the throttle, then a few pumps while cranking it over and it fired right up. Pretty impressed, had it running for a bit, looked at the vitals. Buggerrrr....... Not charging. So the question will be: Belt need tightening, or alternator needing to be replaced. Take a peep. Hope to get that sorted soon as well. Not a Project is it.?

Probably the alternator boet I would think you would get some voltage showing even with a looseish belt. Has Harley been playing with it whilst yer at work?

Check the output with a multi meter. The alternator is spinning so it ain't the belt. Could be a sticky gauge! Make sure it's actually NOT charging before racing out to fix a fault that might be a totally different fault- you don't want to get too involved, it ain't a project

Does the ignition light come on and go out? Probably doesn't have one if it has a charge gauge. My Cherokee has no 'ignition' light, just a voltmeter.

Grizz , if it not reading any voltage at all , would that not mean the gauge has become disconnected ?

Echoing the above, check the voltage with a meter as the gauge could be leading you astray.
Just pop the meter across the battery terminals and see what the voltage is when it is running, hopefully around the 14v mark, no need to do anything fancy to test it is charging.

While this was what my car said when I got back to it in the afternoon. Unseasonably warm weather for the first week of November Did your car previously live in the midlands or have you set free bham and bbc wm as presets because you like listening to our lovely accents?! Halfway through catching up on your “I can’t believe it’s not a project” thread. Post 463 of 900-odd and liking what I see so far...

I am personally a great fan of the “Your ride, Your way” school of thought, and it’s good to see it evolve into something he wants to own and drive. There are probably lots of drives that look like that but it looks to me like that photo is taken at Ray’s (rayvern hydraulics) place. I’m trying to think for the life of me if your old van was there last year when I dropped off / picked up my Acty.
