I was looking at this picture this morning and thinking how much better the Blazer looks with stripes. Funny how the little things, like looking out and seeing this lump, outside now makes me smile. A quick comment to Grizz and he came up with this: Now we just need that grill and steering wheel sorted to complete the next step of the transformation!!

I thought parking a new(Peugeot expert) van in asda was trouble.. this must have taken some skill(skill in for the right spot) been a fan for 4 years joined just to post this Mr grizz! Morning Bob The Frontera Guy. Thank you for taking the time to post up. There is no choice of parking places down there, you take whatever is available. The bonus was that both cars next to me parked straight, so I only needed to get the Blazer in. Often people park skew and randomly in places like this. I do understand the basic mechanics of steering wheel movement and placement before and during a reverse move. The hampering factor in the truck is that the steering lock is very short, so unlike moderns that can turn sharply, this thing sweeps a wide arc when steering so you just need to plan better. However, as most experienced drivers know, reversing into spaces is a lot easier than head first, also helps with removing said car later 😁 I drive and park daily in hospital and public car parking areas that have all got tight spaces, stupid really but I suspect that is planned by councils.

Oh yeah... bet you feel like the dogs danglies in that now?!!! It certainly is not an arrogant feeling, but it makes me grin. Yesterday in the station car park down in Rochester, as I was about to leave and guy and his daughter walked back to me from their car and started a conversation, he had not idea what it was as it has no badges of course, so I said it was a Mercedes Benz and he was happy to believe that, so I immediately took him out of his misery and told him it was a Chevrolet. He then walked around it, going on about its presence and size compared to moderns and never having seen one before. He also said it was actually always nice for him to see people driving unusual or retro type stuff that nobody remembered. So yes, dogs danglies in as much as it makes me grin, and makes other people smile or take photos and ask about it. that is quite an incredible transformation . Morning Robert. Thank you, but of course I do live in the shadow of your Medusa build Starting out with a scrapped London Black Cab. That........ my young friend, is a transformation. BUILD THREAD forum.retro-rides.org/thread/178819/medusa-genius-british-back-engineeringCan’t wait to see that grille swopped out Grizz. It’s too plain currently for my liking with such a wide profile. I think it will be a really stylish upgrade. Truck looks like a ray of sunshine amongst all the surrounding dull machinery. Agreed mate, new grille now being collected on Sunday. It won’t be everyonescuppa tea, but they are free to buy it and make their selected changes to it. Certainly gets noticed. Sounds almost like you are wanting to approve of some stuff here. I am. 😂😂 I’ve always been a fan of “subtle”. My favourite kind of modified motor is best described as a Q-car. It’s not that I’m hung up on “stock”, far from it, but stock-looking, and period mods are more my thing. What you’ve done with this is pretty close to what I’d have done. It’s a good compromise between tidy enough not to be an embarrassment, and rough enough to be unafraid of scratching it whilst it’s working for its living. I run my Land-Rover in a similar manner, and will do the same with the Austin if it’s ever finished. Q Car indeed. And agreed on a driver quality car. Being unique sucks for spares availability, but gets extra Unicorn 🦄 points.

What I am needing. I first thought it was the angle that you had taken the pic from, but looking twice: that boss hole really is excentric actually! Never seen something on other cars. Must be owed to the wiiiiiiiidth of the whole car?

Must be owed to the wiiiiiiiidth of the whole car? You know more than me. Not said much about Dennis’ gas station build recently as he gas been painting, finishing and cursing mostly. One of the recent purchases was an air unit for pumping tyres. Almost done. A recent question about the size of roads and parking, prompted this pic.... welcome to England and car parking on street. For us over here it’s normal, but of course in the good old USA and other sunny countries where space is less of an issue, this causes panic attacks. Today Prozac worked again, and a photo opportunity presented itself after I put out a wanted ad on a local Facebook group for some 47kg gas bottles. Collected, in the back. Back home, unloaded. Needs cleaning. Any guess what or why for?? More in a bit.

I used the bottom from cylinders for diff guards on my samurai....though i doubt a lowered 2wd not a project blazer will ever see much more off road action than the occasional pavement outside a specialist sausage retailer!!

I used the bottom from cylinders for diff guards on my samurai....though i doubt a lowered 2wd not a project blazer will ever see much more off road action than the occasional pavement outside a specialist sausage retailer!! Way too creative. And yes, no need for a 4WD. ooh! aah! Like this, except not as pretty. Hopefully I can gather the bits needed to get the look.

Right. Back to our regular transmission of Non Projecty Blazer actions. Remember the steering wheel and horn button dilemma plus the standard grille? Today a Scotsman called Kevin Bruce replied to my FB request wit a complete steering wheel and not one but two standard grilles. Of course I already bought the new in box grille that has been collected by Kevin up in Derbyshire and is now waiting for me to head over there tomorrow night to party I to the new year and collect. The steering wheel looked like the one Ian has sent by courier but then Dennis immediately picked up that it was different, with a wider button, so I said it to Kevin and he replied that he also had just a single narrow horn button and that I could have that for nothing, he would pop it in the post ASAP. Stars align some times. After collecting and dropping off the gas bottles with Prozac, I headed to the industrial estate to find some different sizes of electric heat shrink, as I am going to go through all the wires on the truck and solder and heat seal every joint. While there I bought a few cans of white primer and white spray paint for the Blazer For various jobs that will be needing doing. £41.00 later. Why all the paint, you may ask me. Because some of the panels and paint look like this, not all of it, but there are small repairs to be done over time, just to turn it from 50yard truck to 10 yard truck, or even closer. Last night...... Reversing in the dark, down the side of my house, I managed to do this stupid thing. So it needed to be addressed sooner than later. Fortunately, only 23 layers of paint damaged, no metal damage. Sanded back, masked and wiped panel down. Primed, drying helped with heat gun. Then three coats of paint applied with heat gun gently helping dry it all between coats. And as good as it gets after dark. Tomorrow fine water paper to remove small ridge and to blend old and new paint, minimal polish. As it needs to blend with wibblepoo paint in place. As good as it will be getting. I call it done.

there is certainly some "interesting" paint effects going on around the old bus. makes trying to achieve a seamless touch in a little less daunting than on something with a flawless finish. could i hazard a guess that you had been shopping at a toolstation?

What gearbox is it, TH350? Reverse light switch is most likely on the column.

Paint on it certainly is “interesting” A mix of chalk, kids crayon, road marking paint, Dulux enamel, primer and white rattlecan and anything you can imagine inbetween. Despite that, it is a good truck and everyone who has seen it here or out wherever I drive it, have little problem with what is there. What gearbox is it, TH350? Reverse light switch is most likely on the column. TH400 fitted. Still to be found.

For a “Non Project” this Blazer certainly gets a lot of attention and gifts, and parts and effort bestowed on it. This morning early the doorbell went, while I was still in bed with my iPad, cuppa tea and of course the cat and internet for forum catch up. Chirpy lady at the door said: You seem to keep me in work, Thank you and Happy New Year” and handed me a parcel. What could it be.........?? Answers on a post card. In other news, “Pistonpopper” offered me this....... Not the car, to add to the roofrack I am still looking for during summer show season. At 9 foot it is a bit tall/long but I do like the decidedly 80’s feel of the graphics on it too. Almost time for a drink, later. But now headed out to go investigate a small Ford Courier pickup truck Imdidcovered in a yard recently, it is either a 1980 or 1981 model and was last given an MOT road test in 2006. I wonder what the implication is of a vehicle that has not been declared SORN in this time for a potential new owner.

LOL. Thank you for the unreserved support mate. Yes, it will go with the Beach theme, or sunshine theme. Being a windsurfer means the foot straps need to be removed, holes filled and camouflaged etc, and it is down in darkest Wiltshire, but it offers an opportunity for a road trip, time to meet a great contributor on here, and possibly add a different look that will split opinions like a Katana in Kill Bill. The entertainment is my pleasure. This community is part of my life too, and I get as much as I give on here and elsewhere.

I'm wondering how many of Mr P's vehicles will be offered in Swap for the Blazer in all honesty, so cannot wait to read that update when it comes. and of course the obligatory shot of standing on the surf board in the full work attire just for the fun effect there are multiple forums i used to frequent, but this has been the longest serving, the enjoyment i get from reading and sharing in your exploits (a long with a great number of you) really is above value, hence the thanks to all from me. keep doing what you do.

Half moon shaped thing...also does the neutral safety switch so look for some heavy gauge purple wires.. This is all assuming it's a column shift not floor.
