65 v 70 profiles. But I work on wheel arch height and visual appearance 1) My advice, such as it is, would be to decide whether you actually want the “look” of two different size tyres before you go much further. You need the back to be slightly higher than the front when you’re unladen (not as much as it is, obviously, but a bit), so that you’re not dragging it’s rse when it’s full of bootfair loot and “abandoned” roadsigns... 1a.)I appreciate you don’t need the additional expense of two more tyres just now, but having them all the same size (and the spare) does make life easier. 2.) It’s surprising how much difference the camera angle makes, because in some pictures it looks level, and in others it’s really high at the back. 3.) Have you had much more time to drive it yet? They do lope along nicely don’t they? 😃 Well, having seen the way that you build stuff, I will be financially, emotionally and generally crippled forum.retro-rides.org/thread/206222/why-austin-isn-finished-thread. If I were to try follow your very high standards. Only to build a car that exactly at the specification level you and georgeb expect to buy from me, after repeatedly kicking me I. The Test Tickets So to reply. 1, 1a.) I am keeping the essentially new tyres all round where they are. If anyone wants changes, please let me know, send a cheque to include fitting costs and you can collect the removed tyres at your leisure within 7 days. 2.) if you look back at the photo of the truck on the wheel alignment centres ramp, it shows clearly the current status, and it needs to come down a bit, just a bit. 3.) between a day job that has me out the house long hours and various other responsibilities, the answer sadly is nope, but it is being used. It certainly has a easy going pace and lope as you say. I have a 4 day weekend, and the kettle is always on, should you or anyone else wish to pop in for a cuppa and a natter

the issue i have, rear ride height perfect, spring rate not so good. payload on my shorty is 600kg, which is allot, and i have never got near that, but as a result of paragraph 1 still find that the rear axle and bump stops are frequent bed fellows.
semi elliptical springs have degressive spring rate, that is the flatter they go from their natural arc, the lower the spring rate. or to put it another way, the more laden it is, the softer the springs get. (which is opposite of what we need)
TL:DR. be mindful you have enough travel for your parts hauling and general purpose-ness-ness

Of course there is the matter of the long weekend in America Last night after 10pm my one neighbour brought a parcel around. From Ernie “PedalcarJoe” it had me laughing again, that is twice this week. Basically for the Blazer as it seems to have a bit of a bruiser look about it, and in all white looks a bit like the Stormtroopers from Star Trek. Harley of course has to do her inspection, weird cat. On the way home tonight I had to fill up my car, prices are a bit higher than those in the USA In other news from the USA, Clem Johnson of Tubatrucks.com had send Dennis an old gas station driveway forecourt bell earlier this week. Started out like this. And after doing his magic......... And earlier today, Dennis sent a pic of it mounted on the side of the replica gas station. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Am I right in thinking that there’s a hose attached to the bell that you run across the forecourt; and when someone drives over it the bell rings?

Those drop shackles look identical to Cherokee XJ lift shackles. Weird! Not identical. But similar. Guess they all work on the same principle And are from the same maker. That's because you are holding them the wrong way to the ones in the picture I posted To be fair I would fully expect them to be different in dimensional, as Jeep lift shackles are for a 1500KG SUV and the droppers are for a 2500KG (ish) beast!

Am I right in thinking that there’s a hose attached to the bell that you run across the forecourt; and when someone drives over it the bell rings? Correct. Pressure on compressing the pipe pushes an arm to hit the bell. This one though is quite special as it also has an electric ringer for front doors or telephones. I could. Hope they are back to Yup, gottem now. Excellent Photophukit seems to be testing everyone at the moment. Not identical. But similar. Yes, altogether different.

Lazy start to my day off work, only got up at 07.00 when Harley had bugged me more than I needed to stay in bed. Did some work admin, lazy brekkie by 09.00 and garage by 9.30 Not bad for a lazy day. So tried out the Bobble Heads Ernie had sent for the truck. Then truck time. First thing I did was to remove the beauty rings, clean them and wrap them up back into their original box Then made up a special tool to get the centre caps off with. They are buggers to get on too. Then consulted the destructions. Posted here in the interest of record keeping. Not the same as my Blazer ............ Ooops. So looking in. Offered up. Notice gas filler pipe is in the way. Mr Rattle Gun called in, easy work, another great tool I bought a long time ago. Other side removed too. Rear axle and suspension supported on the jack, rest of truck on axle stands. Top shackle bolt fitted, needed to come out again as lower bush sleeve did not fit into support cup.

Everybody in the UK gets free healthcare with their fuel though. That’s a good way of looking at it. Nonsense. Not really free, is it. We still pay taxes, which pays for the NHS etc. Our fuel is some of the highest taxed in the world. But let’s not hijack the thread, the price of fuel will not change.

Very keen observation, along with the likes of Dennis and a few others via various media. Once the reassembly, let down or is that set down was completed, it looked thus........ People also noticed all the old underbody sealant that had cracked off after being pushed about. Ultimately on completion, we had 10mm and the movement is in a horizontal plane.

pleasing clearance ! so bump travel swings the shackle rearwards away from danger, more clearance, have you tried jacking that corner to test full droop, provoking the shackle forward ?
p.s i like the little saw tooth ends on the crush tube through the new bushings. a detail that could easily have been skipped by the tuning company.

Instructions show them mounted the other way around! Destructions were also for a different chassis if you noted. So kinda not right. Positioning was to replicate existing shackles It works in my world.

So the old shackles came out, looking worse for wear. Crawling around with 5 layers was not too bad, though my back still objected by the end. One side. Other side. Side view after. Final numbers. Started with Front 680mm Rear 790mm Front raised to 710mm Rear dropped to 780mm Today shackles brought rear down to 740mm Front stayed at 710mm Happy with how it sits now. Project??
