grizzGood score... Looks a fine vehicle, and the red isn't pink....The PB 1.8 8v is a great engine in these, always preferred it to the 16v units, much more useable day to day. Anyway, I have sheds full of old VW Mk1 and Mk2 Golf Golf bits an bobs (unfortunatley no tailgate though) but drop me a PM of any trim parts it needs etc. With regards to the radio they tended to have Blaupunkt's or Philips units (depending what the dealer had at the time) so anything from round this 1989/1990 timefame would be 'period'. Another Grizz 'Not a Project'? Warren No..... Time to come clean I have had a new lodger for 5 weeks. First one since September last year. He to.d me he had a slightly tatty GTI in storage and would show me it some time. He came back from holiday in Wales on Sunday and asked if it would be OK to bring it here and park it while he cleaned it and did a few small jobs. I said no problem. This car showed up last night. grizzGood score... Interestingly Tim said what he is also desperately looking for is Mudflaps for his, in case you have or know a source for original ones. proper job ... as we say down here!! that looks rather nice ... and its not even a mk1 , i must be getting soft!! Yup, soft for sure. I remember them being utterly hideous when launched. Known in South Africa as the “Jumbo Golf” I think I would have one as a pet though. |

I think if you look at the Citi Golf, it got loads of safety and performance updates while retaining the body and persona of the Mk1 Even now, a Mk1 has romantic appeal but to be honest, a Hyundai I10 would run circles or is that rings around it but without the romance. |

Thank you, I think he knows they are silly priced. Another two challenges, one bigger possibility are these bits. Front end missing this strip.   And the cap that fits over the towing hook. You will see the small bit that is missing..... he has bought a replacement, yes going in deep.  And of course, mud flaps, any number will do.  |

That is a very tidy GTI! I have myself a Driver model in the same tornado red as this that I was given a few years ago, saved from the scrapyard with a £5 part. Mine is now less standard and slowly gathering some period accessories but it is back on the road and rough enough to just enjoy as it is for now.
I had to source a new towing eye cover too. The part number he needs is: 191853696B
Sometimes come up on ebay if you search description too. Both places have lots of cars and parts in stock and have been very handy for me.

Cassette deck is all working, sounds lovely. Rescued from a sadly scrap Merc 280SE. Can't recall the last time I saw one of these with its security card still in!

. FFS !!! I am getting old. Had to use my Poundland reading glasses yesterday on the Blazer as I found it all a bit blurry.  The radio in the Blazer has been non functioning for some time, since it stopped working, and then when I investigated it, it became apparent that there was a mass of spaghetti behind and under the dash. Included were household box junctions, crimped junctions, ducktape, twisted connections and to rop it all off......... Yup, even some twin core flex, one assumes from a long discarded IKEA bedside lamp. So yesterday afternoon after work, I decided to see if I could get me David Allen Coe ( Too rude to post on a family forum, but all over YouTube) CD out the machine and get it working. Fixed the hooter button too, which for some reason had stopped working since last weekend when I used it on Sally. Anyway, found a place for all the loose wires, reconnected them and the rest a bit more securely, and recovered my CD. Now we can have music when not listening to the V8 burbling away.  Bank Holiday weekend and it certainly will be picking up more miles. One more day to go work next week, then break and off to the USA |

Big boot fair today, only one but good stuff. Bought a tall wooden cat for my garden for £2.00  Sally clocked a Mexican blanket over a cars bonnet, I know the lady sells weird, random stuff but always stiff, hardly negotiable prices. So took a pic, texted craigrk to counter offer whatever she wanted via WhatsApp, and showed her the offer..... She wanted £5.00 which he was happy with, but he texted back £3.00 or £4.00. She took £4.00 when I nagged, I know she was not overly impressed, but Craig got a cheap blanket for Ouma LiL forum.retro-rides.org/thread/190311/1947-chevy-fleetline-aerosedan-company Between us Sally and I bought quite a few bits. One of two of my favourite things was this riding crop, clearly old. Note the woodwork, it’s a spiral, cut from one piece. @50p it was a bit cheap, and clearly has age. Same seller sold me a beautiful military swagger stick for £1.00 covered in very fine leather I wish I knew someone who would love it as much as me.  Not at all everything we got, but some of it. New IOM TT Races T-Shirt £1.00 Two Jack Daniels T-shirts new 50p each. Mexican blanket £4.00 3 rolls of wide masking tape 50p for them all. Riding Crop 50p Swagger stick £1.00 Racing duck 20p London scarf £1.00 Strawberry Glass bowls and holder 50p 4 Guineas coasters 50p Dog toy dragon 50p  And as a “special treat” because I am heading to the USA next week, took Sally to Maccy D’s for breakfast. Both of us on CCTV screen.  Then back home. Next job, unpack and clean company car. Remove personal stuff from Blazer. Potential buyer Tuesday. Wash and hoover Prozac the Berlingo, MOT due 20 October so nice to have it clean for then. Best part of the weekend......? Public Holiday Monday. |
