You could also get them in khaki canvas that used to stink when they got wet. I think i spotted a Kagoule in one of those pics (a sort of nylon over-the-head coat)....they had a massive pocket on the front, I remember Nick Casterton was wearing one on a school trip to Drayton Manor in about 1978, he got travelsick on the coach and filled the front pocket of his own kagoule full of Liquid Laugh. Whilst he was wearing it.

Blue Parkers / snorkels with grey fur and orange was clearly a good look that lasted. I remember being very upset when my mum refused to buy me one, because the hood was 'too restrictive'. Cow. Made me wear a blue paddington bear duffel coat instead, instantly meaning that I was DANGEROUSLY UNCOOL at the age of 5.

In 1983, a blue duffel coat was tantamount to social suicide. Bit like having some health food snack in your lunch box instead of a penguin and some golden wonder. Or your dad driving a Renault 6. Christ, my parents where cruel bastids.

And as for reminiscing, In September 1988 my dad was smokin' around in a mkII Escort while the Pug 405 was European Car Of The Year...Phil Collins was at number 1 with A Groovy Kind Of Love and I was starting at 'big school'
...And my mum made me wear a grey waistcoat and red velvet bow-tie-on-a-bit-of-elastic at the 'new kids' party the school held.
Way to set a precedent, mum. THAT BOW TIE MADE ME UNACCEPTED IN THE SCHOLASTIC SYSTEM FOR THE NEXT TWELVE BLOODY YEARS!
