I don't ever remember the police coming round to our school....
Apart from when a Mk3 Cortina was stolen and abandoned in our playground/car park... I remember the rumours going round. It had a bomb in it, and it was due to go off at 9am.
That was around 1979 too.

Predictably, it was all BL round here in the mid 70's, I remember Allegro panda cars and the inevitable light blue Mini dog van being dispatched to the pub up the road from home most Saturday nights.
West Mercia went over to Vauxhalls in the mid-80's (hilarious, I was driving by then and the 1600 diseasel Astras they bought were no match for us lot) after suffering dozens of Metro engine failiures. One of my dad's mates (who was a PC) reckoned that one of the Redditch Metros had had EIGHT engines in its first 12 months of service!!!!

we had two cops come to our scout hut but with no cars or horses or motorbikes... they told us about a boy who ran out in the road and got stuck between the wheel and wheel arch of an HGV
they couldnt forward or reverse the hgv cos it squashed the lad more but he bled to death in front of them anyway.... very sad story....think one had a tear in his eye recallin it...lorry driver passed out and needed treatment after knockin himself out on ground apparently...
it was a shock tactic for us lot to look right , look left, look right, think once, think twice, think bike , lorry, car or whatever else can get ya...
i think i called one of 'em kojak when the mood got lighter...
