Don't worry about hijacking the thread my brother started it and he knows I would win in a fight But back to the Benz it does look awesome, these cars have excellent lines. I think between us we have a shed load of work to do before the shows start next year.

Thanks for the positive feedback REVOLUTION #9 & Ministrone, I got tempted by a few coupes myself but had my heart set on a saloon in the end.

Soooooooo cool mate!!! I really like the W115 in darker colours - especially black! I aim to respray mine in mat black when funds permit! They do benefit from being dropped a couple of inches - if you find any lowering springs for it let me know! I haven't managed to find any anywhere. I just followed the German boys and chopped the springs! ;D Looks a real minter that one - and the 220 plate just adds that finishing touch! Class mate - wilkommen to Benz ownership! ;D

I'll be round biglee once I've replaced the water hose and worked out what the intermittent whining noise is (I'm fearing it's the water pump or an old girlfriend). I can see what you mean about the mafia thing, and it does fit many bodies in the boot (so I've been told).

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

Beautiful Old Merc, last car my late Dad had was a 71 280E in 1983 , really pale blue with a white steering wheel and the twin cam six, just found the owners manual for it last week.

A metalflake roof would be nice Mattblack and I do eventually hope to put air bags on it (a decent 'juice' set up is a bit expensive for me). That's the best engine Blue850 and I'd love to get my hands on one of those steering wheels!

That is a lovely, lovely car. Drop it, lose the AA badge, get the windows tinted, and if you don't want merc alloys, keep an eye out for some big multispoke Audi wheels on e-bay, although I do like the idea of slotmags...
Oh, avoid fully chromed wheels, and I'm not convinced of the matt-black look.
70's mafia is the only way to go with that car IMHO

It'll be a long time before I can afford wheels Panda, and I partly agreed with not painting it matt black, that look does seem to be getting too popular. Any pictures of yours knocking about stevie?

If you're gonna go for Audi wheels, just watch out for the centre bores of the wheels - The Merc has a big 65mm dia centre bore whereas the Audis have smaller ones. You can space them out about 15mm on the rear to clear the hub centres, but the fronts requite a 32mm spacer to get them to fit!! Been there, done that and has cost me mucho dinero f@*king about trying to get them to fit! I went for MB ones in the end. Much less trouble!

Looks like a really splendid purchase!
I'd keep the steels and caps on (as per James' minty beauty) but look out for some 5x112 Empi 5s (MWS made some up to bolt straight on bay/T25 buses) then you can get the American Racing look without the outlay! Otherwise put Porsche rims on it (design 90s would suit...using some ready available VW adapters).
But more importantly it's off to Lees for a grinder session!

Cool Car....... Right colour... Doesnt need a lot Just slam it ;D And for wheels...... Later 16"Gloss black steels with Chrome smooth hubcaps and Trim rings, low profile tyres Nice and simple, put the trim back on, lose the AA badge and the spots.... BFO Stereo ;D Airbags would be the icing on the cake I wish I had never sold my 220 4-pot manual, sticking caliper, and about 8mpg when caning it but I just loved it........... Sold it for £400 back in 95 I do fancy another one........ Have to get looking I think..... Got yourself a nice motor, well impressed ;D EDIT: There was a superb black 114 posted on a thread here, sitting low over Mahle Porsche BBS rims with black centres and polished rims...... I saved the pic but not the original hosted URL ? Anyone else remember it ? or how do I attach an Image thats not hosted ?
