Classic cars and business use is unusual and would be expensive. 33 years old - my cars cost me: 68 Dodge Dart £150 72 Ford Escort £150 E55 AMG £190 I think All agreed value between 6 and 30k. 1500 miles limited Brentacre Insurance. Non for business use - I have a reliable daily for that. Wow which of those is 30k? I'm guessing its combined between the Escort and the Dart? I pulled on a garage in Stoke once that had a Beige Mk2 Escort 1.1 ... it had just received a 5k beige paint job

Update on this. To get the idea out of my mind i thought, i'll go and look at the Car... a 1987 Nissan Sunny. It was pretty great to drive and be in although, quite slow!! even compared to my 1.1 Escort!! The seller had it running for a long time before i turned up and was very open about that, he said it had stood for a few weeks. I also noticed on the test drive that the gearbox has a steady whine and when you went into reverse it jumped slightly. I guess that isn't a good sign for a daily car. Although it has 50k on the clock and was fairly clean.
I compared the insurance to an 07 Focus 1.6 auto and that was £100 cheaper. Spoke to an entertainment insurance specialist and they couldn't beat the quote from my insurance company i'm already with :/ maybe would have bought it if i could have worked it out.
I'll have to carry on for a while as is i guess... would definitely have something like this as a daily though... I know... i'm sad! I think "festival of the unexceptional" did it too me. Woke up this morning thinking about this again... anyone know much about these Auto boxes and if that steady whine/electric motor type noise (best i can describe it) is a bad sign or just how they sound? Also what do people think is a good price for these cars?

Okay, I was trying to help the thread starter regards to cost of insurance and owning more than one car. I'm not sure what you need clarity on - they're both my cars and they are both insured for 30k agreed value for £150 p/a. I'll photo the insurance documents tomorrow if this helps settle your thoughts.

I'm assuming less thank £2k - in this case, if you like it and funds allow the purchase I would just take a punt at it. I'm not sure you will get specific feedback on gearboxes on these cars. If you need this, start another thread with a title specific to the request - might attract the right group of people. Your location is against you for insurance but shop around. seriously you can save some pennies doing this. J
