All 3 cars are mine. 70's: pure sex on wheels. 80's: the pureness of line (1980,so just)i have an 83 too. 90's: Micra K11 Super S,the closest thing to the original Mini (driving fun,gocart-feel)with added japanese reliability.

The MK2 Cavaliers of that era were ace too, I nearly went for my old 2.0 CDi 12v saloon, maybe the best car I ever had. My Dad had one when I passed my test, I borrowed it a few times, it loved to rev and the velour interior was so comfy.

The BMW E34 3.8 6 speed M5 I had one as well but not the 6 speed LE. When I advertised it someone from Malta came over then drove it home via France, Switzerland and Italy!

This is my second one,and it's a keeper. It only has an induction kit and a sports-exhaust,but it is FUN!!! So nippy,so responsive, small sports steering wheel (original),sportseats, short shift kit... in my opinion,a gocart. I wass planning on doing a thread about it,now i'm most definately gonna do it,i have one "liker" allready, haha!!

I feel the 1990s should be the mk4.5 fiesta or the mk1 Mondeo, it still! Maybe a theme going on but I would have these three: I will probably change my mind in a bit!

A humble 1983 Astra 5 door estate in white, a 1300s, no less. An absolute hoot to drive, the engine was just fantastic. I used to see 115MPH on the speedo, yep, innacurate for sure but it screamed along giving its all i dunno though, they were rated at roughly 106mph for manual gears. fine engine compared to ford and vw offeringss.

70s - Austin Princess I bought mine pretty much on a whim and it's ended up being my favourite car, so much so I can't imagine not having it. Other people can't imagine me not having it. There's other 70s cars I love, but this is The One. I maintain that it's as brilliant as it is dreadful so you either love them or hate them. 1980s - Citroen BX Uppy-downy suspension from the factory. Comfortable, handle like they're on rails, spacious, surprisingly sprightly even in standard trim, and pretty much the 1980s on wheels. I've had an estate before and I'd absolutely have one again, with the exception of some French interior plastics, they absolutely blew the other 80s cars I've experienced out of the water for me. 1990s - Suzuki Swift This is a tough one. There's so many competent vehicles from the 90s that I feel I could pick almost anything from that decade and be happy to own it. Since the Rover 400 has already been taken, and for pretty much exactly the reasons I'd list, I ought to pick something else. I've gone with the Swift for its distinctive rear end styling and the fact it can cater to everyone from the OAP to the boy racer, the budget commuter to the grasstrack racer. A truly versatile, fun, frugal, fast, little car that shows off all the best things a 90s car can be.

I struggled for a 70s car until I remembered these. I've had half a dozen so I dunno how I forgot! They are a 60s design though, debuting in '68. They're just so much better than most contemporary vehicles in so many ways. Back when it was possible to have a car that was so base spec it only had one exterior mirror, yet still managed to ooze build quality, and be technologically 20 years ahead of everyone else. I'm back in one of these at the mo, on and off, so they're fresh in my mind. Realised in '88, they're just Soo 80s inside and out, way more so than a mk2 golf, with loads of cool little design touches. Plus they're based on a mk2/mk3 golf platform so are mega reliable and easy to modify. 90s, another VW design. Some may argue it's more 2000s, but it came out in 1998. 1997 if you include the arosa. It's another clever VW design that has so many little nods here and there to previous VWs. That polo breadvan rear arch, the dual size light arrangement from the polo too. There's hints of beetle in the interior and the pop out rear windows. It's a design I feel has aged so much better than the other VW designs of the time as well. Technologically it's the same front suspension as the Passat above, even some of the gearboxes are the same as well. What completed this car was the engine choices though. I have a 1.4tdi and it suits the car so well.

Very very tough to pick only 1! 70s - Oh so cool and within reach for an average Joe 80s - The golden age of the saloon, MK2 Granada is one of my faves too. But these had the styling which is timeless, shark nosed and had engines to match the looks 90s - The handling benchmark for a decade and showcased the future in its construction whilst going back to basics
