Dug this out of a farmers hedge in Shropshire
I have a bit of a soft spot for these old Jeeps. A film star in its own right and fast becoming a bit of cult classic. Very much a marmite vehicle though people either love em or lothe em
Shame it isn't the 4litre straight 6 but at least with the old VM diesel I wont need to sell everything else to afford to run it. Full story of the Jeep rescue here:- petrolobsession.com/2018/07/01/just-enough-essential-parts/

Had a few and are fab little 4x4's and that doozel(as long as you look after the cooling system) is a great motor. Did a load of laning and muddy stuff with mine and were pretty reliable. Parts are not expensive contrary to popular belief!

I've got a pre-facelift '94 4 litre high output, I've replaced a few of the exterior details with US market parts, chrome grille, US tails, wired the front park/marker lights up and fitted 12X6 number plates and it really starts to stand out. Looks like a good project you have there, and yea, most parts are really well priced from jeepey.com or rockauto, be interesting to see the resurrection. Not enough of these left these days.

nice, I like the blue one, looks just like my dad old 4 litre. Had great fun in that old beast. Just trying to source an alternator for it (I guess the years of sitting have damaged the old one as it gets really hot and doesn't do any charging). Cheers for the tip of jeepey.com I had been using jeepchryslerparts.co.uk they seem reasonably priced too. unfortunately alternators seem to be the one part that costs a lot of money.

Really not helping my desire to possibly get one again - had a '94 4-litre 5 door before but am considering a 3 door this time for occasional tatting and towing duties..

I’ve just bought a rover Sd1 with the 2.4 litre VM diesel in it. I had no idea they were in so many vehicles.

Nice write-up. And top work saving it! Although my 4 litre will do nearly 25MPG on a run no problem.
*cough cough* Only does 15 round town *cough cough*

I do miss the power and sound of the 4litre petrol, but the torque from the diesel is quite strong on boost.
The main trouble is having flicked through the owners manual I have discovered I have a hankering for a Jeep Commanche. The US market only pickup version of the Cherokee. very rare in the uk, but I do like a pickup.
