Had one 15 or so years ago and swapped for a Rs turbo (bad move) Anyway I'm thinking of getting another one soon before like everything else they shoot up in price, There again its not a Ford so maybe not. It seems at the moment you can either get a shitter for £1500 or a minta for £5000 not much in between. I think there on the verge of being called retro?
Anyone got one? Be interested to hear on how bad they rust where they rust and the availability of new panels. Of to see one this weekend that's been off the road a few years, Seller says the boot floor is the worst area.

I've got a replica but I've been around them for 10 years or so, 3 door panels are getting scarce, wheelarch and petrol flap repair panels are available, rear valances are hard to come by and rear quarter panels are commanding 5/600 A side lately. Sills rot like hell behind the kit, and the bulkhead immediately behind the pedals likes to rust out as well. Even standard mk3s are getting scarce in scrappies now so GSi specific parts are starting to really creep up lately.

Saw a lovely one at Tatton Classic Show a few weeks ago, they still look a lovely car IMO.
The do rot like hell though as do most Vauxhall's, I can remember over 10 years ago looking for one for my brother and most were rotten back then!

i had an original L reg gsi (1.8 C18XE version) converted to a calibra turbo engine. it was quick, comfortable, but jsut didnt have that fizz of the mk2 (the fear factor)
despite being 10 years younger "how many left" says they are about as prevalent as its predecessor astra GTE16v, which is quite shocking to be honest.

I bought one a few months ago, the less desirable but much rarer 1.8 model, one of only 9 left according to Howmanyleft.com. Currently restoring back to former glory. Mines a 93 and surprisingly solid underneath but does need a drivers rear arch and fuel filler replacing. Same owner for last 17 years.

Rs turbo was 130bhp if I remember right the gsi 155. Either I had a very good gsi or a very bad turbo but the gsi would knock spots of the rs turbo.
