I popped over to Windsor this morning to meet a friend and had an opportunity to park my exciting* Kia Exceed daily next to a white W123 230E, in 5 speed manual flavour, very similar to my 230E. An interesting, late registered C plate car.
When I got home I took a photo of my 230E, which is stuck in the garage with an upturned coffee table stored on the boot lid.
I refuse to drive my 230E in winter weather conditions because I want to preserve the mint underside and shiny paintwork. I start it up once a week and sometimes take it for a very gentle spin around the block if the roads are not wet.
Whilst I wouldn’t call it unloved, the white 230E has terrible, flat paintwork, features unfinished welding and rust bubbles sprouting from the rear wheel arches.
Cars are meant to be driven, aren’t they? Not kept as garage ornaments. Who’s got the right idea? The owner of the white 230E or me? Perhaps the owner of the white 230E is normal and doesn’t suffer from car cleaning OCD, which prevents me from making full use of my cars.
Let’s hope 2023 brings some drier weather!
Happy New Year everyone.
