Offering on here before the dreaded ebay..
Reluctant sale, I have no where to store it over this winter, engine runs superb, I fitted a new cam, new lifters, new timing chain and sprockets and a water pump, sounds amazing with the Rimmer Bros stainless exhaust. Leather interior, some tears in it but its been fitted since 1983.. Smells fantastic, proper old car smell.. It stops starts and runs well, but hasn't been on the road for a while due to me restoring 2 American cars.. Will need work on wheel arches, but its solid where it matters, and its dry inside! Electric windows, sunroof and central locking work, as do all the other electrics..
Will need a repaint due to the wheel arches and lacquer peeling. Will prob need some other stuff as they do when been laid up for any length of time, It has been started regularly and moved around so things like brakes aren't seized, but I would replace fuel hoses etc to make sure all is good. These are fast increasing in value

As a few people have been put off by the dodgy looking wheel arches, I decided to rectify the situation, I have repaired by putting new METAL with a skim of filler due to the warping of the metal.. the car is really pretty solid, bulkhead is solid, car is dry inside even the working sunroof is leak free. Central locking has stopped working as have the wipers, if I get a chance to look at them I will, it will be something simple as the y all worked great 6 months ago.... Mobile phone doesn't give the best sound, buy =t it sounds amazing, engine has NO issues at all, with a rebuilt top end.. I really don`t want to sell, but needs must and an impending deployment means it will just it for another winter, I would rather it goes to someone who will love and look after it took a few photos and a video, needs a wash! but runs sweet..

Decided to keep the old girl, I went through the brskes etc to see what else may need doing, well not much...I got the stuck rear door opened, so can now get Rita and Sue in the back!
Took her for an MOT... Passed, yes got a few small jobs to do, but they remarked at how solid it was underneath for one of these!!, they remembered them being rusty from new... floor pans are superb they said.
It needs a steering gaiter, due to its getting a bit old and starting to crack.
NS headlight is just starting to lose its silvering, but image was passable
Mentioned that the brake pipes are covered in grease, erm well yes, that's to protect them!
OSF tyre is starting to wear on the outside, so tracking needs doing asap
And that is it!!
Driving her was a pleasure, just wafting along on a whiff of throttle, oh that glorious sound from the exhaust, turning heads everywhere on my drive home..

That's lovely.
Funny I've just seen this article, as yesterday i was at Silverstone for the British MotoGP (which got cancelled due to the rain).
And there was a lovely chap I got speaking to who raced these SD1s back in the day, both in UK and Europe. His was an ex-works car and said it had one of the best handling chassis at the time.
Listening to his stories about the SD1, and also the fact my uncle had one in the early 90s, made me start looking at them.
They really are a brute of a car, and very handsome as well.
Keep hold if it, do it up slowly, and you have a sure fire future classic there.
