Are you sure it should be Dellorto's as my Holbay 1725 engine had twin 40 Weber carbs? It originally had Webers but as part of the further tuning carried out by Holbay the Webers were swapped out for Dellorto's - Like Webers only better as the advertising would imply. In the text over. Not sure what's going on here - but they were soon ripped off and the brackets will soon get cut off in due course. The bit that makes the rocker cover worth a few extra pence which I removed...... .....so that I could have a look at the valve gear which all looks pretty good - the push rods are not rusty just the way the oil has gone - all wipes off as push rod one. Should have measured the valve lift. head will be coming off to check the bores - I am expecting some water ingress through condensation and when thing get left so long I always suspect damage to the head face through galvanic corrosion. Evidence of its use as a wildlife sanctuary

Will your 21 be going back to Silver eventually? Short answer - Not sure in two minds about it. Longer answer - At this point in time I am not decided about what I am going to do with it. The car has had 3 defined periods in its existence and each one is worthy of a "back to" restoration in its own right. Period 1 only lasted a year when it was the show car and factory demonstrator in Silver Period 2 was when it was daily transport for a doctor doing his rounds in Burgundy for 6 years Period 3 in bright Red and its change to a further tuned GT covering many miles up and down the country and in the same ownership for 24 years Since 2004 to date it was with its last owner just sitting and waiting - more work was probably done to the car this weekend that has been carried out in the last 25 or more years. Speaking to the last main user of the car the reason it fell into disuse was because it became a recalcitrant starter - he said it was never an easy starter especially in the cold and the damp ( strange for an old plastic car with tuned Brit iron ) so I am assuming here that it got to a point were it could not be relied upon, got replaced and then sat awaiting the promised "Roundtuit". In answer to your question I was originally inclined to think that the car should go back to the Silver show car specification and that I would move forward with the work on the car with that in mind. However, there is a growing train of thought that is gaining momentum that perhaps it should continue its evolution and in this new period of ownership get a coat of Audi Papaya an RBE tune on top of the Holbay tune, EFI, better brakes and suspension, some chassis work and a continuance of its evolution. Whilst at the same time hoping that someone who absolutely has to have this car comes knocking on the door to make me an offer I cannot refuse, thus removing the decision on what I should do with it.

Lots of time spent clearing up the garage so that I could get space organised to get back to more normal works after the recent disruption. So, here we are back to Ginetta door hinge production and we have added another set to the requirement with the latest acquisition I have cut tubes and plates for 5 sets and will be getting them done over the next week or so. Steel is now here for the seat supports for the White G21 so that can get done soon as well.

To me, a Holbay tuned Holbay would just about do it! Paint colour of your choice.

To me, a Holbay tuned Holbay would just about do it! Paint colour of your choice. There are not many makes of car in existence that leave such indelible marks during ownership that after 1/2 hour sleuthing on the internet and an introductory email via LinkedIn would get an owner that bought the car 39 years previous call you up at home and fill in some blanks on a cars history. To add to the history file that the engine was not only rebuilt and modified but the work was done by Holbay no less is absolutely priceless.

The G12's are very popular in Japan - the Japanese Ginetta dealer/importer bought the rights to the G4 and the G12 in the 1990's and continued to be made by DARE for that market so there are quite a few road going G12's out there.

There are a few gorgeous Ginetta’s in the championship I compete in. Marcos - ETA at Keepers by the looks of things - Been a HDLCC member for quite a few years now. I like G4's but the prices are getting daft which is why I decided to rebuild and improve a Gemini.

The magazines that I have discovered the car to have been the subject of a road test or other feature have arrived. Still not managed to get the door open though as the wind is a bit fierce around here today so will be leaving that job until that's died down. The wind has also prevented the welding on the white G21 from being carried out. I regards to indoor works, the door hinges are in production and most of the fabrication should be completed on those over the weekend. G15 wise plans are being made to get the glassfibre works progressed on BOY as once that is done there is very little stopping this car from being completed pretty swiftly.

Good work on the history of the G21, it's coming together nicely. Here is a pic of a G21 at Keepers from 1998... at least I think it's Keepers (I didn't take the pic)

Welcome aboard Stu32 With a bit of assistance from Trev' I have the complete history on the car from the production line to the present day, owners' buy dates, sell dates, the price sold s/h to the Doctor from the factory accounts etc. etc. - It was used extensively by Bob Walklett and the family during its duty as the factory demonstrator and reading some of the road tests got "thoroughly" tested. Looks like you were on the approach to Keepers - spent a few days on the marshals post at keepers and may do a bit more volunteering if I get the time. I need to check the back axle ratio on this one as if I read the road tests correctly it may have started out with a 3.7 and then got changed to a 3.9 to give it a bit more pep.

Just simply delicious!!! Ginetta G12 - probably off the net somewhere in Japan would be my guess. Mid engined GT racer - a few made it onto the road in the UK in period but more in Japan. They pop up for sale occasionally but there are some "less than Kosher" examples around. DARE were reportedly doing a slightly larger version but as usual with DARE nothing came of it. You also find them with "Gurney" roof bubbles as they are tiny. I'm a Chevron B8 fan myself There is also a special bodied G12 with an interesting history - as you can see not very big cars

Penance for yellow muppetry 😀 I did wonder if that would be what you were looking for - another option is Nick's G12 which we will have at Keepers as well
