Built a new pedal box and I bloody hope this one fits as we have changed every angle we could and minimised every distance we could to try and get the lowest possible height on the M/C's - After all the works they looked comparable with the originals heigth wise but the proof of the pudding... Drill a few holes and weld on a some nuts We also took the opportinity to leave more of the original steel work in place to give a stronger assembly. Trim to fit Always nice to weld something that's perfectly clean and well fitted. Now with bizzo to do his bit in assembly and test fitting. Then spent a lot of time moving cars around and cutting grass - garden much tidier and a G15 now sitting in the garage - no idea where the pedals and pedal box for BOY resides though ! Tomorrow will be the start of taking the body off the chassis and preparing for more welding. Found one thing I did not expect - G15 is longer than Gemini -

Nice work Will the canted cylinders mean you'll have to remove the fuel tank to do the fluid, or does it have a remote reservoir?

Nice work Will the canted cylinders mean you'll have to remove the fuel tank to do the fluid, or does it have a remote reservoir? Canted cylinders can only ever have remotes - This is #13 the one with the very special long stroke motor. PHX is the same and BOY will be similar again.

Very smart. A lot of the spitfire folk have slightly canted cylinders and just seem to run the regular reservoirs on top. Remote looks much better, but not convinced there's a great deal of space above them on our cars. I take it that's braided EPDM hose. Only if it's fuel hose then brake fluid sweats through it! Sure you know already but just thought I'd check

Well the first trial fitting suggests that it will be tight (we knew that anyway...) but that thankfully YES it will fit :-) Some more fettling required to tidy everything up before paint, and the cross brace needs modifying, but thanks to Darkspeed's fabrication abilities we are once again back on track. Hopefully there will be no more job creep before this is back in the car...

Managed to get the lad working with me on the G15 today - Body was quickly off the chassis and it was not too much longer before the running gear was all removed. Not long after that it was up on the stands Then went on the hunt through the sheds for bits of steel and tubing. ARB With the mods we have done to the various chassis I was hoping that the ARB could be re-positioned forward and up out the way as they sit below the chassis quite a way in the standard position and are the lowest part of the car. With the coolant tubes running inside the chassis all the way to the front of the car there is now room to tuck the ARB up out the way. what I did not foresee was that with the additional brackets that we have fitted to support the lower wishbone its just a simple case of swapping the wishbones side to side and then using the standard Ginetta mounting brackets fixed to the new brackets - no other works required and its nicely above the underside of the chassis. Let the welding begin.

Just received a mail asking if BOY is for sale - Well everything is for sale at the right price - The right price for this car being one that would buy you two very very good complete G15's and this one is in bits! The work with the clutches has continued and here is a Nissan Micra plate with an Imp centre spline. Sitting on a lightened refaced flywheel set up for the Nissan plate. Itchy's rebuilt gearbox is coming together - Lots of NOS bits have gone into that so it should be good for bolting an electric motor to when fossil fuel supply dries up. Lots of G15 works this weekend

Work started today Drilled the front cross member and welded the sleeves into it and the mid support. The coolant tube is bloody tight against the underside of the cross bracing but there is very little tolerance - once the alloy tube has a bead rolled onto it will be a struggle - may need to put a slight bend in it which will be interesting. Then onto the side plates and extra cage foot Plus a lot more tubes for fitting Did not get as much done as would have hoped as I had a little job to do assisting a mate with the removal the remains of a sheared off bolt from a handlebar clip-on assembly.

Nice bit of sunshine today so a good opportunity to move outside and get some work done Welded on the additional cage foot mounts and all of the additional outer body mounting tabs Need to prepare a few chassis sleeves, threaded sleeves and mounting tabs for the cage, seats and the flat floor mounts. More steel also required for back stays and door bars and paint to make it all good. Also get the old Imp stock lump that has been in residence in rear on eBay and see if some will come and take it away.
