Also need to add - The owner of the G21M is thinking of selling the project - He has back trouble that treatment he is having is not improving and it is likely that getting in and out of a G21 is just not going to be possible for him in the near future, As its gradually getting worse by the time the car is finished he thinks his back will be too. If it's something you may be interested in drop me a PM. There is a good way to go but it has the foundation work done for an epic G21 - I have enough to be getting on with otherwise I would be very tempted.

Are you not tempted to follow the VW scene and go with a Subaru boxer mated to one of those VW boxes?

Are you not tempted to follow the VW scene and go with a Subaru boxer mated to one of those VW boxes? Too heavy - Better to make a simple adapter and put the BMW engine on it. Vw box is probably a better route for a BMW installation than all that messing about with an Imp transaxle - more options with ratio's, gear sets, clutches, diffs, etc etc. stronger.... Best engine for a G15 is the Imp engine.

True. It's a shame the VW Box isn't an easier fit to the G15 chassis, Imp Engine with a 5 speed box sounds like a winner?

Not having looked in any detail at the installation of a VW engine into a G15 I cannot say how difficult or easy it would be - the factory did it okay and they always managed to do things on the cheap.

Busy day - They can now fully dry out for a year. A bit of cleaning to be done as and when - probably do some of that tomorrow when we take some of the suspension components up to be stored. Need to have a good look at the chassis to make sure we have enough steel as I think both will be getting significant amounts of fresh metal.

I have started an Insta account AKA_Darkspeed with #WemGinetta on most things - early days for me using that platform so see how we go. Whilst using these # things for Ginetta G15 found a picture of a G15 on steels - I recognised it from when it was up for sale as the front wings are unmistakable. As we hope to put the Demo car back to as near possible its 1971 magazine article self I sent the chap a message about his eventual plans for the steel wheels and also asked about the water colour of a G15 he had on his account page and if ever did any prints to let me know. He pointed me in the direction of his shop! www.paulhowseart.co.uk/I am no art connoisseur but I like what I like so I ordered a print - only once I had completed that transaction did I find that he also does a expresso mug as well! Now I am no coffee drinker either but I do partake every now and then so click.... and as I need to say thanks to a few people I tried to order '5' - only to find just 2 in stock - so those 2 and a 908 mug will be on the way whilst I give Paul time to restock - LOL Spoiler alert - bizzo , molebert , Captain Itchy you are all getting the same thank you - sean1965 - you will probably receive yours before you check in on this thread next. The garage is getting a bit clearer - stuff has moved up to the farm and other odds and ends sorted into various piles for stripping and examining prior to reallocation. Pulled the first of the '533 engines to bits and found water ingress into number 2 pot was the cause of it being locked up - heat and levers got it moving but its not recoverable. It did give up its sport cam and carrier that will be dropped onto a 180 head that I have to make a complete Sport assembly. Another Frozen '533 Looks like its number 1 on this one - the same process will be done here as well - off with its head! I was given some heavy duty cleaner to try - so I dropped some onto the old engine block - neat - and gave it an agitate with a small brush That has potential. Idled away an hour melting aluminium today as well - mostly just playing with settings and practicing filler wire feeding technique.

Wow! Makes my seized Rover 2600 engine look positively healthy... Yep its a pity but not even the biggest re-bore - if you can find pistons - will recover them. Only useful if you were to machine them out for 998's More playing with the TIG again today as a way of dealing with stress of the day job - the way things are going I can see me getting through a bottle of gas before the week is out. Mainly having fun playing with frequency settings as well as different tungsten grinds - Well overdue this practice stuff.....

Presents for friends arrived from Paul today (see above) And a treat for myself Even the packing made it special. Looks like I will have to host a Ginetta North West Expresso meet - although may have to be Decaf! Unless there are plans to work into the small hours. Found out that the steels we are hunting down for the restoration of the Factory Demo car are Viva HC and late HA van.

Not sure what steel wheels you are after Those exact ones I suspect ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) - I will drop you a PM First of the road tests turned up today - smelling just like a musty 50 year old mag would be expected to. The bracket for the 8 track was still on the dash! I cannot believe that in all that time the only thing that has changed on the dash was one extra gauge !

There were two G21's shipped to Hong Kong - one made it into the movies. If you want to watch more classics getting crunched there is a fair bit more carnage with a (Pink) Panther if you wind back a bit. I make no apologies for the click bait title kevdonlon - Dropped you a couple of messages about the steels

What do you do when you are 78 with a dodgy heart waiting for surgery ? You paint your G15 of course ! Wanted to get it in paint before he went under the knife just in case anything goes wrong - My logic that WTF would you care if it was painted or not in that case was not fully appreciated - I think dementia as well as a dodgy valve.

Whose G15 is that, Darkspeed? Mr. Burrell - Chassis #13 - Should be a nice car when its all back together - Long stroke 1200, Omex, BMW throttle bodies. etc. When we were doing the repair works on the front end I did try and convince him to go back to original but he likes the MK4 pod indicator front end.
