Afternoon all - I did put this up in the 'What's it Worth' section but didn't get a peep, but appreciate that might not get viewed much. So, as I'm just looking for General opinions, I thought I'd try here..
I'm a sucker for a Merc wagon (that's my daily 204 n the pics and I had a 202 before it), so bought this 124 unseen on a whim from a friend who needed it gone. I was thinking I could spruce it up and move it on, but it's not as nice as I'd hoped so suspect it's probably worth more in parts as it's a bit battered and crusty, no MoT, minimal recent history, etc.
So, what are your thoughts on the bits that will sell well..? I guess the interior is worth a few bob, and I think this one had a new under-bonnet loom at some point (which I'm led to believe is a common problem), but what's the value of these and significant others..?
Thanks in advance for any pearls of wisdom!

In my opinion, Mercs of this era don't tend to break for much, and unless it's totally rotten it's probably worth more as a whole car. W124s, particularly estates, are starting to appreciate so I would think yours would get plenty of interest as a project.

I don't know what these particular parts are worth but i would assume it would make more in parts. Eventually
You could scrap it. They're paying £100 per ton near me
Sell it. You know what you'd get based on what you paid
Strip it. If you have the time and patience to list each part correctly and wait for the sale you could be surprised how much you get back. Then still weigh in what you don't take off

Don't know what you paid for it but I can't think it would make anymore as a breaker than a whole car plus you have the trouble of stripping it and posting out parts This era of merc are becoming a bit more desirable I guess it's not as good as it looks in the photos

They do break well IMHO but there are criteria for that. The SLS can go wrong, so that fares well. Wings go for decent money; if the offside wing is genuine and in good condition I'd talk a deal there. Interiors tend to go for £300+ IME if they are decent. Cubby hole boxes in the middle also fetch a reasonable sum for what they are. As for the engine harness it depends what is defined as 'new'. For me that would be zero trace of any old harness being present. If that's not the case the harness to me would have little value. dickdasterdley just sold an E280 with a repaired harness and a £400 bill coming to show the harness had been repaired only for another part of the harness to go and make the car undriveable. Yes he could have repaired that part, but he'd be forever chasing the original faults in the harness. New they are expensive from Mercedes at £800+, but people do make new ones for £500ish, or at least they did.

Thanks all - appreciate the replies.
Ever since breaking my (now ex) wife's Smart Roadster, which she's owned for 6 years, I got the bug and have done five Roadsters so far. This 124 was a whim as I say, but I've got a good size workshop and am over most weekends to tinker on the classics, so take a few parts off here and there. Not looking to make buckets of money, so I tended to be the cheapest for Roadster bits, just a few pennies to try and keep my hobby cost-neutral!
I'm half tempted to put this in for an MoT, but even with a full ticked I can't see it fetching more than £1k, or am I way off here..?

With a ticket on I'd say you're about right. The rust on the wings will put off many people. Pattern wings as I've come to find with my W124 seem to be made of used razor blades and the fitment of them would please most but it is shocking; I've had to stop mine from rubbing the A-Pillar however, but it's thrown the gaps off elsewhere .
