EXTERIOR
Finished in brilliant Diamond White, this incredible RS2000 recreation is a visual tribute to the iconic fast Ford and draws large crowds instantly. The paintwork is uniform and boasts a bright polished finish with the instantly recognisable blue RS2000 decals in excellent order. Close scrutiny will reveal only minor markings which in no way detract from the striking appearance. This creation has been completed to a very high standard with professional workmanship even extending to a fully detailed underside, whereby the no expense spared mentality and components specification is clear to see. All trim sections including the RS2000 wing badges, front quarter bumpers and boot badges are superb, as are the Lucas H4 headlamps and Fomoco lenses. A fantastic recreation guaranteed to draw attention.
INTERIOR
The interior of this vehicle features genuine RS2000 Recaro seats, retrimmed in hard wearing vinyl and remaining in good condition. Ford aficionados will notice the very desirable and therefore very expensive RS1600 gauges including the 8000rpm tachometer and 140mph speedometer. Other trim pieces such as the RS three spoke steering wheel and padded dash top are in excellent order. The carpets and black perforated headlining are clean and fully intact, and all functions and controls operate as intended. A clean and functional classic Ford interior in excellent order.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
A power plant that is guaranteed to delight and excite! The 2.0 Pinto engine with 205 block features an impressive and extensive specification including twin 40 DCOE Weber carburettors, Kent Cams Vernier pulley. The power delivery is instant and hugely exhilarating, yet the drive feels tight and composed, without question a set up by knowledgeable professionals. A very clean engine bay displays the original riveted Ford plate and hints towards the fun in store with the large ornate twin carburettors! A desirable Type 9 five speed gearbox has been fitted and it is housed correctly in a modified gearbox tunnel. The ultimate driving pleasure.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Perfect highly polished Minilight style alloy wheels are wrapped in Yokohama A539 185/60 R13 80H tyres, brand new in 2016 and virtually unused. The braking system has had the same attention to detail with specification to include CompBrake Group 4 Front brake kit, 4 pot callipers (B16), 247mm Vented discs and BF Goodrich brake hoses. A bias brake pedal box controls the disc/drum braking force should the desire to misbehave prevail!
HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 16th November 1973 as a humble Escort 1100L, this car led an unassuming life throughout the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s, and it was into the millennium that the cars transformation was undertaken in the hands of eclectic classic car collector, Robert McMillon. Having searched extensively for a Mk1 RS2000, Robert became disheartened with many non-genuine examples masquerading as genuine AVO cars and the few genuine examples he could find were in such poor order. This led Robert to make the decision to build his own RS2000 recreation, exacting to his own specification and standard. The car as it stands today is a testament to his dedication, skill and knowledge and represents everything that the original Mk1 RS2000 stands for at a fraction of the price! A superb achievement, huge fun and highly usable.
MOT June 2019, Tax Exempt, HPI Clear.
