I bought a set of gauges to help diagnose a non-working A/C in my Daimler Double Six The port in the middle I believe is used for adding the gas, but I'm not at that stage yet, I'm just using compressed air. I'd like to know what that thread/fitting is likely to be, so I can hook it up to my air compressor. It is approx 11mm outside diameter. Thanks

Does it not say in the product information ?
The nearest would be NPT 1/8" but the o.d of that is 10.2mm

You really don't want to be putting compressed air into your a/c system. There is moisture in compressed air and you don't want this in the system as it will freeze in the expansion valve and send pressure through the roof. We always used to use nitrogen but I suppose you could se any bottled gas.

Hi, As jonsey says don't put air in it. First do a visual inspection for signs of leakage especially the condenser (the matrix in front of the main cooling radiator) you are looking for an oily and dusty patch indicating it's damaged, so it will need replacing. The other area to check is the compressor around the pulley for oily dust again which shows the front seal has gone and needs replacing. To test the system it needs to be vacuumed down and then leave it to see if it will hold it, then pressure with OFN (Oxygen free Nitrogen) to see that it will hold a pressure, only then should you re-gas it.

Good advice, but my system was 100% empty when I bought the car, so would have had air in it.
This is my first foray into A/C, but it is going to need major work.
The compressor is U/S, I'll also fit a new dryer, as they are only £30 or so.
If I can get it largely leak free, I'll hand it over to a pro to evacuate and charge.
Consdensers are tricky for my car, so I'm trying to make sure that is okay.
