So I have a new car, bought on a whim for £80 as an MOT failure requiring discs/pads, and a patch in the outer drivers sill. Mate in the garage has sorted me that for mates rates on his downtime, and luckily it was done for today, as i discovered the other day that the tank had split on my e39, which had just ticked 200k, so begrudgingly weighed it in today, I'd have kept it if I had storage it was an awesomely reliable car. Anyway, brought it home today and the first thing I did was clean it, it was absolutely full of dog hair, biscuits, cans, a half eaten bowl of Weetabix? And other rank detritus. I'd already bought a new set of mats and a tyre for it as it was an advisory, stuck my radio in it, plans now are just to keep it nice and tidy, new interior if one comes up localish and maybe a set of Focus St170 alloys. It's a nice car to drive in fairness to it, seats 4 with a decent boot, and the Zetec provides enough power to keep it going. Anyway have some pics... I may be bein stupid, how do the rear number plate lights come out? Ive got LED ines to fit but cant figure out how thwyre clipped in, don't want to go like a bull in a China shop

Friend of mine had one of these for ages, always felt they needed more poke but they are a nice barge. I also knew a chap that had the wide arch kit prototype made for his, it was meant to be a special edition of some kind that was never released called a Cougar-S I believe his car was used to make the moulds, no idea if they are out in the wider world still. www.drivingenthusiast.net/sec-ford/FMC-concepts-prototypes-showcars/concepts_MERCURY/cougar-s/default.htmI agree though these cars are aging very well, a rare sight to see these out and about still. Absolute bargain for £80!

I've just had a guy come.up to the car whilst parked at McDonald's having my lunch saying it looked really nice, followed with but it was a curse word replacement for the Capri I really like it to be fair it's not as cramped or underpowered as I imagined, and it shines up really nice so I'm quite happy

I owned 4 of these! Loved them, just a comfy cruiser really with a cracking boot. Had two of the Zetecs and two of the v6’s both fantastic. I’ll get some pictures up when I’m home from holiday Best of luck with it!

Looks great. I'd recommend a clay bar before polishing and waxing. Get the invisible contaminants off with the clay, then polish it (Poorboys is decent stuff for dark colours), then wax it, and keep building the layers of wax. I waxed the Probe again today. Nowt finer than a shiny black car.

I went mad with paint cleaner when I got it, thinking it may be enough but now the wax is on I think I might use the van wash in work that has a light tfr in it, then clay it and start again on the layers. Was more to see just how shiny I could get it, I hate having dull paintwork and find waxing quite therapeutic, especially if it rains in the night

Nice one. I'm thinking of taking my Grifter (my own big Christmas prezzie back in 1982) to some events to show with the Probe.
