Apologies if I'm being blind as I was sure someone would have posted this up by now, but here is the Pilot Episode for Edd China's new programme.
In my opinion it is great and wipes the floor with Programmes like Wheeler Dealers, which is far too Hollywood now and Flipping Bangers, which is a great example of how not to do a car. Edd is the man when it comes to this kind of thing.

I posted it yesterday on the 'cars and youtube shows' thread but the more the merrier. I enjoyed it - nice level of detail and Edd as always is a good friendly presence on the screen

I'm gonna catch up with this tonight, as my motortrend on demand subscription is mugging me off this week and blocking all the shows!

I enjoyed that - far less frantic and less gimmicky (no enforced time limits, problems sourcing parts, general aggro) than most car shows that seem intent on creating artificial drama.
I did feel that a lot of the hard work on the car had already been done though - Ed was brought in as a second pair of hands on some slightly tricky jobs and the engine was simply bolt-in-and-go. On the other hand, the more technical they make it the more likely they are to alienate the less technically minded.
Overall I enjoyed it though and I hope there are many more like it!

That's the truth, it was the simplicity and purity of the original seasons of wheeler dealers that made it easy to understand and enjoyable to watch. for a lot of younger people the early seasons of wheeler dealers were their first step into understanding cars and how they work, hopefully this new show can capture some of this spirt.

Thanks for that posting guys. Been missing my fix of a "normal" car repair show since the big split. I like Edd's approach and wish him well. Agree that it provided the basic intro for the new lifeblood our hobby needs.

I do hope we go back to having these programmes on Sky or whatever as I hate viewing streaming media. Just doesn't feel right (Hence, I've not seen more than 10min of that popular one who's name I can't rememeber!)

SmokeEm - spend something like £20 on a Chromecast and you can push youtube videos to your telly - just plug it into the HDMI slot and connect it your wifi - all 'tv on computer' feel goes if you're on the sofa with a big(ger) screen

It's good to have him back on screen, I need one of those Golfs! I sincerely hope that this new series is a runaway success and that it gives Velocity (the production company who took over Wheeler Dealers) a bloody nose. This series is being produced by Rentarage AS which is registered in Norway so I'm guessing a few more lhd's to come. They'll be looking for stalled / dormant projects and ask for videos. The guy behind Rentarage is Kenneth Gran, his email; kenneth@rentarage.com

I live in a small, rural town and we've finally just been upgraded to Fibre Broadband and on the back of that I decided to upgrade to Sky Q, which also has YouTube built in as an app, I watched this episode that way and now we're finally in the fibre age apart from having a few extra clicks on the sky remote, watching it was pretty much just like selecting another channel on Sky and the picture quality was excellent on a 65" TV all things considered. Before this, I also couldn't be bothered with streaming media as it was too much hassle. That said, I really hope it's a big success and Edd gets his own show on "proper" TV.

One of the companies they fronted sold, amongst other things, rubber gloves for mechanics. So yes, some product placement / promotion going on.

Just watched it and thought it was pretty good, I gave up with wd ages ago, I never liked Mike Brewer from the start and the longer it went on the less I liked him.

I’ve not watched it, but did he use some spray can satin black ? That seems to be his ‘go to’ fix. I don’t think a single episode of WD went by without he sprayed some around

I used to love Discovery and Sport but the subscriptions became far too much so I gave up watching Wheeler Dealers, Sky Atlantic and almost gave up watch my football team. Youtube is full of folk who are having a go and i'm all for it. If i think they have done a good video, i rate them and put up with the advert then everyone wins. I just wish Youtube warned you about swearing and stuff more.

Great show and I hope he continues. Rather than alot of technical stuff, he is trying to inspire people who get their stalled project finished, similar to what Mark Evans did a few years back. Edd is a heck of a nice chap and good luck to him!
