So, I recently became the proud(ish) owner of this sizeable chunk of toy hauling ability. Its principal purpose will be to haul 2 1940s Bicycles, my Son’s Triang Pedal Car and a weekends worth of camping equipment to rallies up and down the Country.
I have spent the last few weekends resealing all the joints and vents and it’s now ready for a repaint. I was just going to dosh it over but I’m now wondering if I shouldn’t attempt something a little more adventurous.
Suggestions on a postcard.

Why not paint it to look like a horsebox with Shetland ponies peering out of the rear and side doors?

You absolutely must retain the sign writing on the back. It's classic gold.

Paint it the same color as the tow vehicle and add some nice sign writing

Paint it the same color as the tow vehicle and add some nice sign writing I had considered that but the tow vehicle for the moment is a rather uninspiring Citroen Picasso in a delightful shade of grey. Hopefully we may be switching the car next year.

The missus wants to paint it black with an A-Team-esque red stripe

Wood grain, or better still cover in shiplap, so it looks like you're towing a shed.

seeing as its already a fetching shade of toilet cubicle grey , how about applying a "Muriel" of a gent sat on the crapper reading a copy the daily rag? (ok , I will return my inner child to the cupboard under the stairs!)

For the retro vintage look Though for the timber look as previously discussed a bit of fablon and you could have this... or to keep the car theme, martini stripes for the win.. Or as the Grizz says make your own from a collection of your favorite liveries.

I had a similar dilemma its a 1930's Gibson Eccles so after a great deal of thought and when its finished ( should be next week) I will be having it sign writen something like this " Shelby Brothers Small Heath" after the TV series Unless you have a better idea?

It will come in handy even if you never use it

Some great suggestions here, thank you.
I’m trying to achieve a look that obviously looks good but also distinctive enough to dissuade opportunist scumbags from nicking it. The flip side of that is of course making it too interesting so that said scumbags get curious about what’s inside.
Solid white with Martini racing stripes or shiplap my favourites I think currently

Why not consider wrapping it?

(ok, I will return my inner child to the cupboard under the stairs!) If you do this the paper absolutely has to be New Zealand Petrolhead for maximum incomprehensibility to the uninitiated.

Why not consider wrapping it? Yeah that's definitely something to consider. I don't know of anyone very local to me who does it but there must be one in Manchester I would guess.
