I appreciate it's not the oldest car here but the one I'm looking at is 20 years old and I only got into talks about it using the opening line "Not seen one of these in ages", thus fitting RR I think? Anyway, 2 owner car, sent to my mates garage for a test which it failed on a spot of welding and brake discs all around. Owner has asked my friend to dispose of it, so it could be mine for scrap money and the MOT failures put right by my mate, who can't believe thenownernisnt doing it as he reckons about 200 all in plus a fresh retest. Anyway, always liked how these look, this is a 2.0 not a V6, what goes wrong with them, are parts supported ok? I'm guessing it shares a few parts with a Mondeo? Any help appreciated ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Yeh pretty much all Mondeo under the skin, so loads of parts, both new & used out there. Just the usual rust issues, but if your mate has tested it & you know the rough bits, sounds like a no brainer

Brake pipes by the tank and rear subframe. Must be a clean one if they didn't fail

Front struts are unique to the Cougar I believe? Check for rust I suppose, it's a Ford after all. (incidentally my 13 year old sons dream car! 👍🏻).

Well I've bought it, but with moving house I've told my mate to do it on his down time as I'll have nowhere for it immediately, 80 quid ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) body is clean enough as well.

That's it mate, that's what the yard told him he'd get so I said I'll give him that, and it gets another year or 2 use out of it, he was happy, I'm happy ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

£80 bloody hell.
My mate saved for ages working nights at Tesco and paid £12k for one of these, was around 2003, he was about 21 at the time. Seemed as crazy as buying a new Ferrari now.
Something went wrong on it, he sold for £2500 a couple years later... silly boy
