Just bought this as a project with no MOT and crusty suspension components. Needs lots doing including welding, exhaust, brakes, airbag ECU, paintwork, camshaft/balancershaft belts etc etc.......

Oh and tyres, radiator, shocks, springs, bushes etc etc................. Think this is going to be a deep pocket restore job.

Rad support was shot so that was taken off along with the rad that was missing about 50% if its cooling fins due to age/salt. Managed to source a decent secondhand item that was sand blasted and painted up and also took the opportunity to clean up the fan surround which was also crusty and give it a lick of rustoleum.

Also had to drill out the seized headlight and bonnet adjuster fixings and replaced the original caged nuts with stainless.

Good work, you can leave the balance belt off, they drive better.

Great project and in Alfa Red too!. Makes me feel old to realise how long ago these were new. I'm pretty sure they need restoring after 3 years old though!

This one is more pink in places due to lacquer peel . The body panels are actually plastic or galvanised steel, unfortunately the floor is not galvanised.

Thanks Wayne I'm currently struggling to communicate with the ECUs, think I need a new usb lead as mine has the wrong chipset. I've got loads to replace, need springs, suspension components etc. Would like to go leather seats once the mechanicals are sorted.

Top man for taking on a GTV project. Sounds like you're throwing yourself in and I hope you don't discover too many nasties. I had one for 3 years and it was fantastic. Very very pretty. Unfortunately my story, like so many Alfa stories, involved the darn thing clocking up more miles on a lorry than on its own wheels! But when it was good, it was really good! I find it safer just looking at pictures of them now. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the support, I'm sure I'll need it. I'm getting it welded on Friday with a bit of luck, carpets and console are already out and I've even managed to get all the sticky goo off the console. Any 916 owner will probably know what I mean

What are you using to connect to the ecu, I seem to remember that the ph1 uses a 3 pin that needs power And as they are so unreliable have a picture of mine that cruised straight through the mot this morning
