That looks very nice Wayne. Yeah It's a 3 pin connector with 3 separate stand alone ECUs. I've got the adaptor lead with power connectors which I think is working as a mate with snap on managed to connect to the airbag ECU and read faults. Failed to connect to the engine ECU though. I think my usb lead is a cheap copy that won't work so I need a new one with a different chipset.

So new USB with correct chipset arrived today with a hard copy of MultiECUscan 3.9, good instructions on how to alter port settings and rates and drivers to download for the cable etc. Worked perfectly but I needed the paid version as mine is a phase 1 car so I had to upgrade to 4.0 and now it keeps reverting to the home screen whenever I try to connect to the engine ECU Guess I need updated drivers.

Thanks for that, yeah I have adjusted my computer as it should be done. Going to have another crack at it today after re installing the drivers again.

Got it. I didn't have a steady 12V supply to the lead as I was powering it off my trickle charger and I'm guessing it didn't have enough guts. Picked up the cigarette lighter supply and everything is good again . Removing front coil springs is a different matter, can't get them to compress enough to release.

And when they do compress you need some stupid Italian tool to hold the strut while you undo the nut or you break it like I did. Then it's bruised knuckles time and out with the chisel.

Hi there
i've run gtv's and spiders for quite a few years.
If you are wanting to work on the car you will need a ribe bit set. Like a square torqx.
Cheers - mike

Thought I would be able to get away with torx looking on Alfa Owners forum but obviously not this time.

Do you have a particular set that you use Mike? Not really keen on cheap tools as I'd like them to last
