I like to build something for the campsite at RRG 2014-15 saw the Honda ATC 70/90 curse word 2017 saw the Gargant-A-Q 2016-17 saw the 400cc wheelying mobility scooter So what for 2018? I scouted eBay after seeing some lawn tractors knocking about rrg £60 later I had this An 'Allen' Greenfield Tractor Some googling led me to the fact Greenfield are an Australian company and Allen simple imported (maybe this lone tractor) them and stuck a sticker on. £20 and a new carb later had her running, albeit lumpy and smokey as sin. Ripped the block apart and the different cam followers were switched over and now she runs a dream. All 465cc of her. Deck removed as I'm not planning on cutting the orchard or fellow rrg'ers ...

So, clearly I didnt make the #racingtractor so lets get onto the bit I did have a hand in. There are 4-5 of us who camp together, now it's great to knock about by yourself using petrol and noise, it's always better to involve your Mates. I started googling small trailer ideas. i came across this, ideal, will carry 2, is compact, lightweight etc. I can build that, easy! I could do with a trailer to start with, one with suspension for comforts. My mate recently bought a new house and tucked in the corner was a battered trailer frame, basically a hitch, dolly wheel and axle. I aquired it. Even though it was the size of one of them Erde things you find at Halfords, i still had to cut 30cm out the axle width Started on the bit to put your feet, this is where it got out of hand...

We used what steel we had lying round the unit, no point paying out. This lead to a scaffold drawbar, 40x40 angle framework and 33x4 od tubing. It may get heavy! Axle complete and drawbar made Next up, the place to put your feet. We decided it wouod be nice if this was big enough to carry the water butt for the beers at camp, so:

I would do a Trailer for the Trailer to carry the necessary refreshments.

It's amazing how well proportioned a lawn tractor really is when you remove the cutting deck. I still want one, I just have nowhere to put one.

I also have nowhere to put one as it won’t fit through my comedy rear gate. So it currently resides at the unit, which unfortunately means it currently gets used for shunting 3.5t vans around all day 🤨
Amazing what 465cc geared to 6mph can pull
I’d carry on with the progress, but all my pictures appear to be on my work pc :/

What self respecting retro trailer can be without slots? Some suitable 10's were purchased Fitting them was another issue, they are soooooo much bigger than the trailer wheels. The floor had to be cut and changed up a bit You can see the seat base being mocked up above, again, built with what's lying about, so thick wall tubing. Best add some more support right? It will double as a guard to stop mud covering your legs and your legs ending up in the wheels

BEERS! What self respecting Man-Trailer tm could be without a beer holder? Them late night runs to the Tat auction wouldn't be the same without 7 or 42 beers in the back! The top of an old packing trolley was used, we left the little tie downs on as we could use them as.... tie downs More steel, more weight, some more mesh Seat back in a suitably laid back position. The whole seat will be made from this deck board, surprisingly comfy. The trailer has suspension anyways right And that brings us up to where we are currently at. Expect more wood, more weight and some some paint soon, oh and varnish!

Today started with a Guinness. Damn widget in the can meant I needed a glass, a paint mixing cup works! I take mine with a shot of 2k hardener, it adds something special Its only a small update, basically added the rest of the wood Like so We could sit now, it felt good. The #racingtractor had no fuel, so we did the next best thing and shoved it on the back of one of the vans. I filmed the test ride, but it is both uneventful and on my phone, so won't be appearing here. Just the rear cage to finish then we can tear it apart and paint it up.

She was definitley a bargain. Built like a tank as well, all steel body, even the nosecone is a lump of cast ali!
We discussed arm rests, it's just the schematics of it.
We've mocked some up, just gotta decide if we run with them or not
