Borrowed a decent gauge this morning (checked how to do it on YouTube) Checked what a decent number is for a 2.0 Alfa twinspark..... 155 So on a dry test with a cold engine and throttle right down # 173 175 165 165 Wet test 183 192 220 232 Now all the numbers are well up and over acceptable, my question is about cylinder 3 and 4’s especially the wet test, does that seem ok/normal/scream and run away

Hi, They are all within a range which suggests they're all OK but they are high so I would suspect the gauge is not at its best.

Looks fine to me. What was the reason you did the test? Fault finding or curiosity?

Bits of oily smoke, car performs perfectly, they are known for burning oil, some not all of them, I wanted to know if i would have to do the rings, but I’m thinking maybe stem seals. Maybe I will try the rope method and swap the seals without having to remove the head.

Compressed air in the spark plug holes seems to be the tool of choice for my mate, works like a charm. he has some kind of kit which has the various threads that connect to a air line. 100psi is plenty to hold the valves in place

Or smash up an old spark plug, gut it and weld an airline fitting onto it.

Alas, I have no mains power at the lockup, come to think of it I have no compressor either, I did though know of using an old spark plug 😁
