My beautiful 1980 Mercedes 450SLC, in Marine Blue with light grey leather interior.
It's a 3 owner car, the previous owners had it from a couple of years old and she won it in the divorce settlement before she signed over to her name in 1987.
Bodywork/Interior 8/10:
It is a truly stunning car, 'Marine Blue' with light grey leather interior, which is in immaculate condition (bar a bit of piping that needs sorting on the drivers seat; see photo), incredibly straight with a few minor blemishes on the body: O/S front wing, there is a small amount of bubbling by the indicator. Boot has small amount of bubbling, which hasn't gone through, on the right side of the lip. N/S arch has a scratch. O/S door has a scratch on the drivers door, under the trim. All of the defects are pictured and I have been as honest as possible.
Underside/Chassis 7/10 :
It has been undersealed from new and garaged, so is in good condition but isn't without it's faults. The C107 model is renowned for having leaks come through the front vents, which this has at some point, leaving minor surface rust on the floor pan. I could easily not mention this, as it isn't an issue, but I want to be as honest as possible. The sills are immaculate and have never been welded!
Electrics 9/10:
All electrics work: windows, sunroof, radio, aerial etc.
Engine/Box 7/10:
It has been my daily driver since September and it has been effortless. I did replace the starter motor for a brand new on at a cost of £300 from the SL Shop, as the old one was getting a bit slow. Both could do with a service, if I get time I will service the engine, leaving the gearbox for the new owner. The clock shows 203k miles, it supposedly had a rebuild at 160k, but unfortunately there is no proof. The 10 year history online shows it has only done 2k miles in that period! It was always garaged by them and it shows. These engine's are bulletproof and can go on forever.
Overall 8/10:
With R107's hitting £17-30k, the C107's are following suit, they are a luxury tourer, that allows the whole family to go on a journey.
This car could easily be £10-13k with a little bit of attention. It is by no means a project, more of a money maker, should you wish to attend to the defects. I have had a quote of £500 to correct the paint issues.
The previous MOT, which is viewable online, shows it had a few advisories on the last.
I looked at a few C107's before purchasing this one, as all the others had heavy rust on the bodies.
------
This is one of my dream cars, but I have purchased another more practical classic.
Make me an offer!£8995
REDUCED TO £7995!
It has been priced accordingly, to allow the buyer some room to correct the minor issues, but I am always open to offers (as long as they are sensible!)
Viewing is welcome in East Sussex. Test drives and full inspection also welcome, however, insurance will need to be shown.
