Few more suspension goodies in the form of Front upper camber arms and rear LCA's, all Hardrace stuff supplied by 6TWO1.com My bodyshop guy has just had a baby so looks like there could be a delay getting the paint on.

Cool Build. Are you allowed to lower the engine in your championship regulations?

Cool Build. Are you allowed to lower the engine in your championship regulations? Hi mate, Yes you can move the engine within the area of the original position of the original engine. "ENGINE For all classes the cylinder block and cylinder head must be from the same manufacturer as the make of car, and located as such. Over-boring is permitted up to maximum capacity of the Class entered. No change of stroke is permissible. Any other internal modifications are free. No forced induction."

I was looking at the rear of your Civic as we sat in the pitlane at Goodwood thinking I need to get some fancy LCAs for the Integra, these look very nice!

It's so good you can buy nicely engineered bits already! They look great.
Has this hit the paint shop and been finished up?

b3nson I have changed the EK ones now too as they were some make I didn't recognise. Now fitted Skunk2 LCA's on the EK.

Painter just had a baby last week think he's back in to finish it this week I hope. Cage has also arrived but I don't want to unwrap it as it needs to travel to be fitted, but it looks very orange.

Good to see the new rear metal on. Deep-dished steering wheels suit that dash styling sooo well! And of course seats look amazing too.

Wahoo more updates!! Sprinting Hare JDM one of our sponsors have put an awesome package together for me. Hel Performance have just released new track and race brake pads so I have been given the 666 compound to test on July 30th. Sprinting Hare JDM offer a service where they visit you to fit custom braided line kits. Tom custom mate a full kit inside and out in KTM orange to match my roll cage. It included a bias valve and clutch line too. The system has been refilled with Castrol PFR brake fluid, my personal choice for track use in which I have never suffered fade in some very powerful cars. Tom did a fantastic job and id recommend the work for any track or race car. We just need to clip everything up properly and get out on track to make sure the bias is right for the car. I also had a play around with some Prodrive Mini WRC brake ducts I had laying around from some work a few years ago, they seem to fit well but I may have some turning issues. Avon Tyres / Cooper tyres were true to their word and some 205/50/15 ZZR track tyres arrived this week and I can't wait to test them out! Avon and Cooper are a South-West based company and specialise in retro, classic and motorsport tyres so if you use you classic ofr retro car on track or the hill they are well worth getting in touch with. I will do a full report on these and the Hel setup on July 30th. And finally for this update VDM Motorsport in Trowbridge have fitted the EK engine in the EF. The EF was already pretty quick with the old B18C4 which had 2.5" exhaust, DC2 manifold, Induction and chipped ECU. I would have estimated that engine at 185ish bhp at the flywheel. This new B18 C4 has some extra goodies including Stage 2 cams, titanium valve springs and retainers, 440cc injectors, AEM fuel rail, AEM FPR, Custom ECU mapping. This new engine was dyno'd at 200bhp at the wheels! So it should be pretty nifty. I happened to meet my closest rival in the series I'm entering the other day. I sold Matt who runs an Integra DC2 some Dunlop semi slicks last week and hes a great bloke. Hes running a fully forged 260bhp engine and larger brakes than me but his handling setup isn't quite as good so will be great to battle with him. hes recently done a late 1:16 in testing at Castle Combe so I'm a little nervous. The other two class B cars to note are two Pug 106 pushing around 250bhp each so its going to be hard work getting a class B podium this season.

2.5" on a petrol 1600 is a bit overkill unless you're knocking on 250 bhp... I'm afraid that's not true mate. I have worked for a custom exhaust company in the past and also a dyno. and I can tell you first hand especially on NA Hondas a larger bore of at least 2.5" will increase your power by 10-15bhp with a standard B series or K series engine. Many of the Honda guys even run 3" if they can fit it under the car. B18 Honda is 197bhp out of the box, before all the other bits fitted to it. If this doesn’t make over 250bhp i’ll Be surprised

Well its not because this is a B18C4 which is 169BHP out of the factory. The DC2 engine is the B18C and runs 197BHP as you say but that's at the flywheel not at the wheels. so to confirm this is a B18C4 running 197 at the wheels so roughly 235 at the fly. Full spec list is on first page.

Civic EF Race Car Initial Testing It was hard to know what to expect from the little EF yesterday. I have never had a car built to this extent before although the skyline was close. The car isn’t 100% ready and I still have some bits to fit but it was good enough to test and after some road miles I felt reasonably comfortable that the car was going to be reliable for trackday. Of course the build has been in good hands so I wasn’t overly worried. To be honest more worried about how I was going to react to the car after not using a light hatch on track consistently for the past couple of years, having focused on RWD and 4WD cars. Yesterday was a day of shakedown and testing. We fired a mixture of drivers out in the car all with pretty extensive driving experience, me with the least of all of course. The day offered a mixture of conditions but even in the dry the track wasn’t ideal with a nice puddle on the entry to camp forcing most to the right on entry. We had patchy conditions as well as a very wet track at times. The car now runs the 200WHP B18C4 I had thanks to VDM Motorsport and in a car that currently weighs 915KG’s it goes very well. Whilst I was building the car I was warned about how tail happy the EF can be but frankly it was fantastic with huge amounts of grip everywhere. All down to Harvey Motorsport for corner weights and Geo setup. The Avon ZZR semi slicks are amazing with praise from all drivers who used the EF. I have used all sorts of semi slicks at Castle Combe over the past few years in various cars and the Avons provide excellent grip levels and create a very manageable drive over the periods of time we tested. I was also given Hel Performance 666 compound pads to test from Sprinting Hare JDM and they were great. They provide great braking over a good temp range with zero issues. We run DS3000 in the EK with the same 282mm setup and the Hel pads are superior for the civic. The car did some pretty heavy 15min sessions and everything on the car just worked together very well as a package. Of course this was shakedown and there is a long way to go. We have more bits to fit and more weight to save. I'm over the moon with how it drives and feels at the moment but as it was testing every lap there was a lot of time to be had. All drivers agreed it needs a different gearbox for lower ratios but tbh the standard LSD did really well. The car has just been delivered back to Cooks Auto Body Repairs for final paint before we think about testing again. As always huge thanks to all our sponsors for creating this little weapon. Retro Rides gathering on August 19th and we are going up the hill at Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb in full livery and have a trade stand so come and say Hi! To be continued….
