No doubt you will see an increase if you go from 1.5 to 2.5, but 2 or 2.25 would be beneficial and give you some real world torque. even WRC cars shifting enough air for 360 bhp just run 3" my 240 bhp engine runs a 2.25 and 190 LBFT. In most other cases i would agree but here slipngripross is going the right way One thing these engines like is big exhausts, its one of those strange anomalys. Trying to get torque out of a vtec is a losing battle at the best of times! They are meant to be revved HARD!

They are meant to be revved HARD! yeah, us boring europeans have an annoying habit of preferring to increase torque over the entire rev range

lol please don't make this a debate about exhaust velocity. Its well worth doing your research properly before debating gains on NA Honda engines compared with most other manufacturers

So some updates for you. Sold my Scooby so I can buy more parts now which is awesome. AJU Motorsport are hooking me up with a bolt in MSA cage, bigger Hi-Spec Brakes and some gauges to make sure the engine is doing what it should. Should all arrive in a couple of weeks. New rear driver quarter arrived from 6TWO1 Auto Supply to get rid of the obviously filler ridden current one Found a TRS harness that was old stock in date until 2022 for £103 posted, bargain! Also Fibreglass bonnet arrived along with front lip and sunroof bung. I previously may have mentioned that due to the way the engine sits in the car I couldn't use the OEM bonnet as it touch and bent around the bonnet to close, I was hoping to solve this problem with the fibreglass one which is a VT bonnet but with 16v bump in it. No joy however the guy who did the swap VDM Motorsport said its a pretty easy job to low and he will do it for free. This got me thinking do I make some changes to engine and gearbox has its coming out anyway??

Did wonder about the curious bonnet description as it looks more like the normal DOHC 16v (with depressed centre like standard Civic apart from bulge), Vtec being raised instead but also with wider headlights toward the centre & slightly relocated latch (which you wouldn't want). Interesting to hear about revising or spacing (engine) mounts for clearance. Bit of difference between adding mount spacers and removing engine though.

yea its a bit of a curse word but the race series states the body shape of the car must remain the same and if I use bonnet raisers they could pull me up on it.

Sorry progress has been a bit slow whilst I wait for parts however some stuff has happened. VDM have finished with the car so tomorrow its off to the bodyshop, I have decided on Honda Frost White and will add the orange at a later date. VDM did a really nice spacer for the engine and wired the EK clocks in whilst retaining the OEM surround, perfect for the race car. Fibreglass front wings finally arrived but one is damaged so they are sending another. No excuse for using these other than they are a tad lighter and more readily available than steel wings. Couple of gauges arrived from AJU Motorsport. AFR and Oil pressure just so I know the engine is safe more than anything. Also my brakes have been approved in the first stage and I'm awaiting final design before they are made.

I'm gutted it can't be at Goodwood this weekend so we are bringing the EK, which brings me onto the fact that the engine in the EK, also a B18C4 has some tasty mods including Skunk 2 exhaust manifold, Skunk 2 stage 2 cams, skunk 2 valves and titanium valve springs, adjustable pulleys, AEM fuel reg and rail, 440cc injectors and a map bringing it to 197BHP at the wheels. We got the EK as a track car between me and the mrs but the agreement was I get to swap engine woohooo!! So I'm going to run the current engine for first test to make sure we are happy with everything else then swap the engines. Testing I hope is end of July at Combe then I'm keen to take the EF up the hill at the Gathering with the new engine beforemy first race the following weekend....fingers crossed.

If lowering the engine makes the sump too low I found "normal" Integra B18A&B had a shallower sump & pick-up than Vtec B18C. Not sure which sump more commonly available CR-V B20 might have received if interchangeable. Obviously Honda might have been worried Vtec engines could consume more oil at higher revs...
EG/EK definately make for a more spacious engine bay with longer w/base ahead of firewall & added frt overhang. Power output @ wheels sounds very impressive.

Cheers mate the clearance actually isn't too bad on the sump and being basically race car only shouldn't have any isssues
