Nice little audio set up I have some vintage pioneer 3 way speakers in my cf, they sound great! Better than any of the new expensive stuff in the car audio shop.

Nice little audio set up I have some vintage pioneer 3 way speakers in my cf, they sound great! Better than any of the new expensive stuff in the car audio shop. It sounds really good in there considering the speakers are older than me. not a massive amount of bass but I wasn't after the 90s boy racer sound anyway. It's got more than enough punch to it and the way it's set up means it can run whenever without worrying about the engine battery.

Another job ticked off. Just need to plumb it in and fix the tap and water bottles now.

All plumbed in and working now. Have fresh and waste 12l bottles under the sink. Just need to get the gas system pressure tested but fairly happy it's all ok. It smells pretty potent if it leaks in such a small space. Loose ends and shelves in the cupboards now and it's ready to go.

That's the vague steering sorted! Was a bit wobbly before lock down but bordering on dangerous since Its been back out on the road turns out the idler arm bushes had had enough and decided to disintegrate!

Anyone handy with Photoshop can pop these on for me. Seen them for sale and thought they might work cleaned up.

Back in business. Another years mot and doesn't seem to have suffered too badly from the winter. Few new orange scabs but nothing too serious. Failed it's first try on headlight aim, tell tale light in the dash decided to stop working the day of the test again and an imbalance on the rear brakes. A couple of hours tinkering on the drive and no extra cost and it went through.

Finally got rid of the rotten old blowing exhaust. Been patching it up since I've had it, starting at the front and finding the next bit blew every time I patched it. Couldn't find the correct system off the shelf so had a little side exit made up with the biggest silencer that would fit in the space the old water tank left. I'm happy with it. The whole system only has one joint and one serviceable rubber mount now. Sounds nice if you put your foot down and is really quiet at low revs. My new knob arrived as well.

Valve clearances, new ignition leads , oil service and timing all checked and tweaked. Running lovely now. Need to have a slight fiddle with the air/fuel/idle settings on the carb once I've had more of a read up. Slightly reluctant to fire up without a little throttle every now and then.

Think I found the problem with the reluctant starting. The high speed idle screw was broken and couldn't be adjusted. Have made a new one using a stainless bolt with the head cut off and a slot cut in the top. Now starts on the button with a nice high idle. Also changed the points out for an electronic set. Think it was in its original set of points looking at the state of them!

That's a really nice looking motor home, The standard of your work is clearly very high,I have to agree that it will look good on either slot mags or Wellers,, Looking forward to seeing future updates on this thread, Nigel

Need to try to suss out the carb tuning side of things next. Plugs are a bit white. Have found 3 adjustable screws so far but non of them seem to effect the mixture as I would expect. What I thought was the mixture screw seems to make the engine speed climb as you wind it in not fall. The top screw I think is the fast idle setting and the middle one with the cap on is usually the slow idle. Have got a manual for setting it just need to work the screws out. Not easy to tell what's what in the exploded diagram I have and I'm not 100% sure my carb is an exact match.

All sorted now. Found the mixture screw hidden behind an anti tamper cap and cut a slot into it with a Dremel to make it easy to adjust going forward. Running lovely now ready for the summer! New rocket gasket fitted today too with a thin glaze of high temp sealant. Hopefully that will be the little oil weep gone as well.
